Premise[edit]

The Deathlord Mask of Winters has decided that with the coming of the Abyssal Exalted, he has everything he needs to usher in the world's end, and seeks to begin his campaign by aggressively securing an ever-increasing number of Black Exaltations while attempting to maintain plausible deniability. Privately, he suspects that the Abyssals could one day become the equals of the Deathlords themselves, which makes seizing control over them all the more important.

Setting[edit]

  • The Realm never lost its bounty of magitech, at least as far as that which is important to the terrestrial exalts, since it is within their capability (or even within the capability of mortal sorcerers) to keep most forms of magitech in operation. As such, the Traitor Legion of Lookshy is in a far more precarious situation, at least from a superficial degree, as both sides still keep up a level of artifacts more similar to that of the First Age. At the same time, though martial arts masters still exist, they are far rarer, or at least less active in mortal affairs. However, Lookshy certainly has the advantage in that it is willing to employ the dreaded Anathema. Long before Lookshy ever employed its first twilight artificer, however, Imperial propaganda explained in detail the gruesome human sacrifices Lookshy performed to appease their vile, demonic Anathema masters.

House Rules and Features[edit]

If you think any of this is unfair, let me know.

  • STUNTING: An attack described before I get impatient nets a +1 bonus, this includes even one that's a simple declaration of attack + charm use. A well described attack nets a +1 bonus. Both are cumulative. If a character takes too long to decide what they will do, or to finish the typing of their EPIC ATTACK, is an automatic +0 stunt. +3 (total) stunts are ones whose setup I enjoy and use previously mentioned aspects of the background in the attack, and who also don't take an annoying length of time.
  • FLURRIES AND STUNTING: In case it needs to be said, you stunt once per action for a given category of action. That is to say, if you take 10 attacks due to supplemental and extra action charms, you still only describe one stunt, you get one uniform bonus, and you only recover willpower or essence once. Apparently some retards allow people to stunt infinite number of times a round, etc. Wow. No.
  • UNIFIED COMBAT SYSTEM: You can use social combat inside regular combat or mass combat. In mass combat, solo units use their Essence for ping damage, and do not suffer the War Cap. Keep in mind that officially the only kind of charm usable while leading a unit of mass combat without a stunt is an excellency; supplementals and other reflexives require a stunt and an explanation, and you cannot use simple or extra action charms at all while leading a unit. Finally, a war charm will always beat a non-war charm unless otherwise mentioned; for instance, it is impossible to use Heavenly Guardian Defense (which allows you to protect yourself alone) to defend a unit against Glorious Carnage Typhoon (which allows you to kill hundreds of people in a single flurry).
  • CUSTOM CHARM RESEARCH: I am EXTREMELY hesitant about allowing homebrew content. To be fair to Abyssals, however, I'll try to be flexible in allowing new mirror charms. Just keep to the general guideline that abyssals are focused on destruction and can only create as a means to the end of more destruction, etc. This is open to some variation, though; a solar charm that lets them deal aggravated to creatures of darkness might let an abyssal deal aggravated to mutants and rakshi, or it might deal aggravated to people the abyssal has a negative intimacy against, or it might have some secondary effect. EDIT: Apparently abyssals can learn solar charms anyway, so its irrelevant.

I am far, far more likely to approve artifacts, charms, and spells that aren't a matter of "hurrdurrp I am building a superior version of something that already exists."

  • MARTIAL ARTS AVAILABILITY: Actually SMA isn't quite as bad as I thought it was, I don't care.
