Campaign:TheMeansToTheEnd/Maskerbeasters
GENERAL NOTES[edit]
Mask's general stats conform to those in the book, except he has an extra dot of Integrity (for Zeal! You're welcome) and 10 dots of Lore.
COMBAT STATISTICS[edit]
In a serious battle, Mask of Winters will enter combat using a Glorious Soul-Born Warstrider, Endurance of 10,000 Cuts (similar to the Twilight anima banner, but the damage reduction is equal to how many health levels of damage he is down by -- in essence, killing him would require you to inflict his maximum health level total in a single blow, regardless of how badly wounded he is), Unassailable Aegis of Dual Armanent (receives an immediate counterattack against any close-range attack aimed at him with his Dark Torment Hatchet), Infinite Mastery of Melee (14 motes), and Flow Like Blood, costing a total commitment of 75 motes (including his twin artifact weapons).
Additionally, he will have Blood from the Slaughter, Reaping the Fallen and Abyssal Aegis performed for another 80 motes, the former allowing him to regenerate up to 10 lethal health levels of damage per action, so long as sufficient humans are dying in the area (and his followers ALWAYS bring along sufficient political prisoners) and the latter adding his Essence to his soak and causing any aggravated damage that specifically targets creatures of darkness to only do lethal instead. Finally, Reaping the Fallen allows him to regain one mote of essence per human life lost within a mile, and again, he tends to have enough prisoners standing by to be executed to restore the maximum of 20 motes of essence a round, if need be.
Though this is a total expenditure of 135 motes, he has dual 35 mote essence capacitators, meaning that in effect he has 235 uncommited motes to play with at any given time.
In combat, he uses two different combos, as the need demands. The first, Smiling Semblance of Mercy, which shows his beauteous side of his mask, contains Second Melee Excellency, Second Performance Excellency, Call the Blade, Aegis of Altruistic Interposition, Adamant Skin Technique, Iron Whirlwind Attack (13 attacks), Hungry Tiger Technique, Fire and Stones Strike (1m per die). Against mental attacks, he has Sacrosanct Soul Retribution for 5 motes, perfectly defending against any unnatural mental influence and retaliating with a beam of light that deals 17 dice of armor-bypassing aggravated damage. Finally, Essence-Gathering Temper and Willpower-Enhancing Spirit allow him to regain essence and willpower in the unlikely event of injury.
The second, Howling Zealous Facade, so called because of his favorite charm evar, which shows the hideous, demonic side, contains the Second Melee Excellency, Second Performance Excellency, Savage Shade Style, Soul-Cleaving Wound, Artful Maiming Onslaught, Fault-Finding Scrutiny, Five Shadows Feint, Time-Scything Technique (13 attacks), Broken Toys Riposte, Ravening Mouth of Melee, and Wounds Mean Nothing.
Thanks to Dread Lord's Demeanor, if he spends 7 motes and 2 willpower, attacking him requires a Valor roll once per turn, difficulty 1. If successful, they still suffer a -2 penalty to attack him and suffer 10 dice of unsoakable lethal damage (once per turn). Ignoring this for a scene costs three lethal health levels (that cannot be reduced by any means, as it is a cost, and not an attack). Additionally, it contains Lesser Horrors Scorned, allowing him to perfectly defend against any mental attack for 5 motes and retaliate by inflicting a 5 point Resonance Eruption on any who attempted unnatural mental influence. Finally, Inescapable Massacre Technique causes anyone attempting to flee a fight in which Mask of Winters is engaged in, whether they are his allies or enemies, must spend three willpower.
Health: -0x20/-1/x10/-2x10/-4x5/Incapacitated. A killing blow merely causes him to reform within a year. Note that Endurance of 10,000 Cuts makes it so that to incapacitate him would require you to inflict 46 health levels of damage in a single blow.
Dodge DV: 19 (including +5 from flight system)
Parry DV: 29 (including +7 from Second Melee Excellency and +5 from flight system)
Soak: 44A/49L/54B (Soulborn Warstrider, Panoply of Oblivion, Abyssal Aegis, Stamina 10). The Soulborn Warstrider's soak counts as both natural and armor soak. Panoply of Oblivion is force nullification, not armor, and instantly snuffs fires before they deal damage. Finally, his Abyssal Aegis reduces holy aggravated damage to lethal, and his Gem of Adamant Skin reduces lethal damage to bashing. His usual soak against piercing attacks will therefore be 42.
Dark Torment Hatchet, Accuracy 18+7, Damage 30L, causes anyone wounded to become unable to act for 6 ticks if they fail a valor check.
Frigid Razor, Accuracy 20+7, Damage 32L, drains 2 motes of Essence per successful blow (no wound necessary), which restores 2 essence or 2 health levels. Those slain are consumed by Oblivion and have no chance for reincarnation and no ghostly afterlife.
Hearthstones: Twice-Striking Lightning Prism, Cadent Carbuncle, Gem of Adamant Skin, Gemstone of Solid Water, Gem of the Night Sky.
MISC[edit]
As Deathlords count as ghosts for all intents and purposes, Mask of Winters is able to make use of Burnt Offerings. He has enough Burnt Offerings on his person to refresh his essence and willpower to full, given any lull in a combat. Additionally, he will start each battle at Willpower 14 due to Five Gifts.
