Chandarheight is a city dominated by the Wood Caste Terrestrial Exalts of House Cynis, and it is the locus of their preferred means of gaining wealth -- child slavery. Its nominal leader, Lord Cynis Ulrich, is largely viewed as soft and ineffectual, particularly after raising the age of consent in his city to nine -- a faux pas that nearly got him assassinated.

Long ago, the land that would become Chandarheight was just a series of fortified manses in the Realm Defense Grid, but in the post-apocalyptic hell the world became after the Great Contagion the desperate survivors built Chandarheight out of whatever they could find. Over time, the slavers of House Cynis became ascendant within the city and drove out the majority of their rivals, tolerating only those exalts who were either sycophants, beautiful, or at least of good breeding.

Now, the city stands nestled within the midst of a beautiful, lightly wooded area, the appalling amount of greenery in stark contrast to the lifeless urban blight of most of the rest of the Blessed Isle. Chandarheight is divided into seven separately walled sections, each with its own fortified manse. The central manse is thought by some to be a ruined Factory-Cathedral. The others bristle with magitech armaments, and often serve as barracks or residential zones for the Dragon-Blooded rulers; yet they still contain deep areas barely explored that have remained sealed off since the Usurpation. Mechanical horrors are known to protect these sites from intruders, horrors only nominally under the control of the terrestrials.
