Ebon Keshig

Meet the slowest guys in the V Legion.

The Ebon Keshig were a formation of black-clad Terminators within the White Scars Legion. They were deployed within the Kharash and were part of the two known Honour Guards protecting Jaghatai Khan. If anything, the Ebon Keshigs were the only White Scars unit exclusively clad in Terminator armour. An oddity given how much the White Scars detest Terminator armour for their lack of speed.

Overview

The Ebon Keshig served as a ritual post of atonement and redemption for sins and breaches of honour. The Legionaries who joined the Ebon Keshig were typically deployed in the van of sieges and other high-intensity conflicts, where they were expected to use their heavy armour as shields for others. In doing so, they atoned for their perceived sins through not only martial glory, but also the protection of their brothers. Those Legionaries who survived their service with the Ebon Keshig were deemed to have proven themselves worthy in the eyes of the White Scars and often returned to their previous posts or sometimes to other roles fitting their new experience.

In battle, Ebon Keshig typically wore Tartaros Pattern Terminator Armour (No surprise given it is the 'fastest' of the Terminator patterns) and used Power Glaives and Power Swords as well as Combi-Bolters, Powerfists, and Volkite Chargers.

Crunch

On the Horus Heresy tabletop, they are Tartaros Terminators that can't join anyone else due to Kharash, which is their version of Bitter Duty that also excludes Moritats, and gain Feel No Pain (5+). That means you don't need to spend a precious HQ slot to bring a Primus Medicae and attach to them to get FnP, which is awesome! As before, they start out with only Power Glaives, but you can buy them more traditional Combi-Bolters and Power Weapons/Fists if you need shooting or more reliable AP2 melee. These guys are WS4 but they do have 3 base attacks which is pretty rare. All of them are also Stubborn with Ld10 despite having no characters in a squad - these guys won't run. They are also one of the cheapest special legion terminators in the game at around 200pts.
