Karaoghlanlar

Basically the loyalist version of the Red Hands.

The nearly unpronounceable Karaoghlanlar (It's Kuh-ruh-oh-lon-lor, "black sons" in Turkish you infidel Westerner) or more easily known as the Dark Sons of Death when translated from Chogorian to Low Gothic, were a formation of the White Scars during the Great Crusade and Horus Heresy.

Overview[edit]

The Karaoghlanlar consisted of squads similar to that of Legion Destroyers and answered directly to the council of Stormseers. They were deployed in combat when the utter annihilation of the enemy was required, as well as for certain ritual roles during key campaigns.

Unlike other White Scars unit, these guys were dressed head to toe in all red, which makes them highly identifiable. They also carry around Jump Packs and barely wield any Radium Weaponry save for Rad Grenads, which makes the Karaoghlanlar more in line with modern Assault Squads then genuine Destroyer Squads.

As far as equipment goes, all of them seem to wear the stock-standard Mark IV: Maximus Armour, albeit heavily modified. But by the time of the Horus Heresy, you can easily see their Maximus turning into Mark V: Heresy Armour due to the number of molecular bonding studs and the large number of wear and tear. The White Scars weren't the most wealthy of Legions and it shows. In terms of weapons, they carry Flamers, Bolt Pistols, Meltaguns, and Plasma Guns for range. For melee, they carry Charnabal Sabres, Lightning Claws, and Power Glaives.

Crunch[edit]

On the Horus Heresy tabletop, they are assault Destroyers which are unique in that they can act as a retinue for a Stormseer. They're also going all-in on melee as the entire squad can pick up Charnabal weapons (which...is only okay since they lack Chosen Warriors for that Initiative bump) and Power Glaives. While they lack their scary debuff ritual, they do gain Fleet (2) and Rage (2) when charging an enemy unit that they outnumber.
