The 120mm Mortar, also known as the M1943 or SAMOVAR, was a mortar developed to add additional firepower to Infantry units. It is also a unit available in Flames of War.
IRL[edit]
The M1943 was produced with the intent of flinging glorious Communist shells out to six kilometers. They were effective enough to remain in Red Army and Warsaw Pact service into the 80s, and some weapons are still being used in smaller countries.
In contrast to his 80mm cousin, the M1943 could be put onto a wheel mount to aid mobility or broken into three parts and carried by a mortar team. In fact the M1943 was slightly lighter than the GrW 42, weapon that was the equal on the axis side of the camp.
