Hippocampus

A Hippocampus is a seahorse in a more literal sense originating from Greek Mythology, they are seafaring equines with a merfolk style body structure, having the forequarters of a horse (often with flipper-like hooves) and the thrashing tail of a fish for its hindquarters. Whilst not as famous as the pegasus or hippogriff, it has made its way into various fantasy settings, and is often the mount of choice for aquatic races, especially those who have legs instead of tails, such as tritons or sea elves.
