Half-Ooze

Half-Oozes are a playable race unique to the Dungeons & Dragons Fifth Edition setting of Planegea. They are either more, less or just as /d/ as you're thinking.
So, where does a half-ooze come from? Well, when a nonsapient parasitic slime called an "ooze sire" manages to get the drop on a humanoid, it kills them by flooding their ears, nose and mouth, drowning them with its own sludgey body before slithering inside the "ooze dam's" body and fusing itself with the internal organs, in particular coopting the now-available brain and nervous system. The result is a fusion of humanoid and slime that awakens as a brand new consciousness, retaining only dim, fragmentary memories of the ooze dam's life - which most prominently manifests in the half-ooze's tendency to name itself after its ooze dam's final thoughts or last words, such as "Dark", "Hopeless", "Cold", "What-Was-That" and "Not-Safe".
The half-ooze is all but identical to its ooze dam, save for the new ability to elongate its limbs by exploiting its gelatinous internal structures, a naturally pale and clammy complexion, and unusual skin tints and personal aromas - green and sharp-scented for acidic, purple and sweet-smelling for magical, and yellow with a faint whiff of rot for sticky. The parasitic fusion of its nervous system kicks its metabolism into overdrive; half-oozes need to feed constantly, and even the most well-fed half-ooze will only live about half the normal lifespan of its ooze dam's species. Upon death, the slimy biomass within will consume the half-ooze's physical body and emerge as 1d4 new ooze sires, ready to mindlessly hunt down a new ooze dam and repeat the process all over again.
Despite this creepy origin, half-oozes aren't evil. Just hungry. They come into the world knowing nothing except what few memories they maintain from their ooze dam and the awareness that they want to eat. Like right fucking now, damnit! A half-ooze that manages to secure regular food can develop an interest in bettering itself and even want to make the world around it better - some half-oozes have actually been better people than their original ooze dam was. But, for obvious reasons, most people don't trust them and these twisted, voracious beings tend to fall in with the desperate, receiving grudging acceptance from those who live where Planegea is at its darkest and most eerie.
Mechanically, a half-ooze has these traits:
- Ability Score Increase: +1 Constitution, +1 Dexterity
- Size: Small or Medium (your choice)
- Speed: 30 feet
- Hunger of the Ooze: You require twice the daily food ration of a Medium humanoid, and must eat every day or take 1 level of Exhaustion on each day you go hungry. You don't need to cook your food to be able to digest it.
- Pseudopodic Limbs: You can spend an action to double the length of either your arms or legs, suffering a -1 AC penalty until you revert their length to normal with a bonus action. Extending your legs gives you +10 feet movement speed. Extending your arms grants the Reach property to any melee weapon you wield - this doesn't stack if the weapon already HAS Reach, though, because then it just becomes awkward.
- Rubbery: You can squeeze through openings normally only available to Small or Tiny creatures, though keep in mind that your gear can't squish and squash like your boneless body can.
- Echoes of the Dam: You have 1 Skill Proficiency OR 1 Weapon Proficiency OR 2 Tool Proficiencies of your choice.
- Subrace: Choose Acidic, Magical or Sticky.
Acidic Half-Ooze:
- Ability Score Increase: +1 Constitution
- Corrosive Rebuke: Once per short rest, when you take damage from a melee attack made within 5 feet of you, spend your Reaction to inflict Acid damage equal to your character level on the attacker.
- Omnivore: You have Resistance to Acid Damage and are immune to ingested poisons.
Magical Half-Ooze:
- Ability Score Increase: +1 Intelligence
- Cantrip: You know one Cantrip of your choice from the Spellskin spell list, which uses Intelligence as its spellcasting ability sore.
- Magic Memory: You gain Arcana as a bonus skill proficiency.
Sticky Half-Ooze:
- Ability Score Increase: +1 Dexterity
- Ooze Climb: You have a Climb speed of 30 feet.
- Sticky Fingers: You gain Sleight of Hand as a bonus skill proficiency.
