Evermeet
Evermeet is an isolated island nation in the Forgotten Realms that can basically be summed up as "y'know how the elves all went away to a magical paradise nation at the end of The Lord of the Rings? Well, this is the Realms version, only not so isolationist". When elves get old, they feel the need to go to the island and spend the rest of their lives there.
History[edit]
Evermeet got is start back in the distant past, thousands of years before present day, when a bunch elves decided to create a perfect and safe homeland for themselves. Their wizards decided that the best way to achieve this was to literally summon a piece of Arvandor and anchor it to the Toril. It didn't work as well as they wanted it to, and although they succeeded in bringing a chunk of Arvandor to Toril, the ritual split the continents apart and killed an untold amount of people. Realizing how bad they fucked up, the isle was left to just stay there in the ocean and no elf went anywhere near it.
Several thousand years then passed until older elves suddenly got the urge to head west to the sea. Some of their relatives made the journey along with them and settled down on the island, leading to its current population. When the Spellplague hit, Evermeet was unmoored from Toril and ended up in the Feywild. As of the The Sundering, Evermeet kinda, sorta returned, being now somewhere between Toril, Arvandor, and Feywild, and access only being possible with a ship piloted by an elf who has been to Evermeet before, though they can mess up and end up stranded in the Astral Plane. Elves from other worlds have also apparently started arriving here.
