Campaign:WereDERP/Delerium
The Delerium
Part of what makes Werewolf so unintentionally comedic is how once Werewoofs (sigh, and every other werewhatever save the foxes) enter their warform and start flipping out and killing stuff, this supernatural mindshield called The Delerium kicks in. Basically, if you're a regular human (and yes, despite what other gamemasters might do, regular humans *do* exist), your mind undergoes sanity rape as you (depending on willpower) do anything from run around like a chicken, plead for mercy, or faint. *Very* few humans have the courage to stand and fight.
When the RIP and tear ends, humans rationalize it as a bear attack, or a psychotic hunter, or UFOs...the point is that it gives the Were-creatures a measure of security versus being discovered. And don't try using a videocamera either; the flamewars that erupt on youtube over alleged "werewolf" sightings are legendary indeed.
Oh, and *do* take note that other supernaturals, be they Vampires or Enlightened Scientists, are NOT affected. Caveat emptor.
The world around Alaska:
What this means is that what is presented in the news as bizarre or otherwise off-key, may have supernatural influence behind the scenes. This tends to happen a lot. In some cases, the rationalization can be perfectly mundane, other times comedic. A list of known events is as follows:
The Lower Shale Lake
Real Story: The Harolds and Haroldson corporation was in need of a place to dump their excess waste from gold-mining so chose the Lower Shale Lake. Despite the protests of numerous environmentalists and EPA officials, the Supreme Court ruled that because H&H planned to dump so much toxic waste in the lake, that it would no longer be considered a lake and therefore beyond EPA jurisdiction. Police dispersed the protesters with tear gas and other material. The former lake is now a foot-deep pool of mercury and solid sludge.
Supernatural Story: The Lower Shale Lake was the site of a powerful Wendigo Caern. Acts of eco-terrorism in an attempt to forstall the mining were stopped by a mix of 2 Black Spiral packs, a coven of Infernalists, a few Spectres, a rogue Nephandus who was interning with Pentex, a Nexus Crawler, and three squads of First Teams. Everyone is still wondering *how* the Wyrm was able to focus so many disparate elements under one banner together, without them noticing as another Glass Walker Ragabash quipped. "Gaia is railroading the plot"
Ted Steven's House
Real Story: UFOS blew it up. Sean Hannity went apeshit.
Supernatural story: PC actions.
Aerial Wolf-hunting Teams:
Real story: Wolves 'threaten' caribou population; it's a veiled excuse for more trophies.
Supernatural Story: What, you thought there was a supernatural bent here?
