Campaign:L5R Army of Midnight

Army of Midnight is a Legend of the Five Rings First Edition campaign, starring LordSpecineff13, Elpizo, Golden and Anise, with Traveller GMing.

A duo of samurai are tasked with the safety of a waystation near the treacherous pass connecting Phoenix and Imperial lands, but are now involved in a strange tale of murder, disappearances, foul creatures and power plays. Hilarity and swordfights have and will ensue.

The game will run Fridays, from GMT-4 5:00 PM to 7:007:30someappropriatetime PM, more or less.

WARNING: This campaign does not follow AEG's official metaplot for L5R. If the daimyo of the Skub Clan happens to be a different character in the game compared to the official fluff or place names are changed, them's the breaks.

Cast of NPCs

• Isawa Junko, the woman officially in charge of the waystation. An old spinster, she spends most of her time reading and sleeping, so the day-to-day running of the station is left to our characters. She is a wise, kind shugenja, though she never talks much about herself.
• Jin, a carpenter living in the small village of Makaimura, near the station. He repairs the station when necessary, and also keeps an eye and ear out for rumors. The PCs currently keep him as a guard at the station while they run around doing samurai stuff.
• Asahina Benkei, Crane shugenja horribly murdered on the road. Why?
• Kimiko, local peasant working as a servant in the City of Remembrance. She discovered Benkei's body.
• Shiba Kouichi, a young Phoenix bushi. Still a kid at heart, he is very fond of Akira.
• Doji Kaori, Emerald Magistrate of the City of Remembrance. A tough, cold woman with an almost eidetic memory, not at all your average Doji wife. (Benten's Curse and Giant, fuck yeah)
• Shiba Hoshi, Akira's wife, she is the other part of an unhappy marriage. Seems to have some sort of connection to Doji Kaori.
• Daidoji Takeo, yojimbo to Doji Kaori, gruff, quiet and loyal
• Sanjuro, eta corpse handler. Tends to drop to the floor, curse and apologize a lot.
• The Mysterious Ronin, possible killer of Benkei - master of a strange iaijutsu technique, and his face is that of DUN DUN DUNNNN
• Asako Kinue, hardass Phoenix shugenja. Does not brake for anyone.

Locations

• Kikenna Rouka, the Treacherous Pass, is the fastest way between the ancestral lands of the Phoenix Clan and the holdings of the Emperor and the Emerald Champion. It has earned this name from the many people that have lost their lives in the past through the years: rumor has it that the pass, and indeed the whole of the Mountains of Regret, are haunted.

• Makaimura, the Spirit Village, is a small farming community that mostly trades with the City of Remembrance. The village is lively and pleasant, despite its ominous name.

• Omoide no Toshi, the City of Remembrance, is the closest urban center this side of the pass. Famous for being the place where the legendary samurai-ko Matsu Hitomi spent the last day of her life centuries ago, it is said that some of the inhabitants still keep the secret of her final actions in this world. Beyond it, the Road of the Golden Coast leads to Shiba Shiro and Isawa Kyuuden, seats of the Phoenix's temporal and mystical power.
