The Absolvers are a Space Marine Chapter of an unknown Founding. They are mostly known for defending the Gilead System at all costs because their first chapter master swore an oath to protect it forever, and having a surprisingly nice color scheme. Judging by their name they might be another Dark Angels Chapter in the same vein as the Angels of Absolution, but their heraldry is a red chalice with an aquila, and that tends to be the theme of Blood Angels successors like the Red Seraphs, and their fetish for ritual scarring potentially hints at White Scars lineage as well. Despite being heralded as demigods by the inhabitants of the system, they are also unusually cold and fearsome with acceptance of collateral damage with the trade off of being ironclad in oath and dependability; the people of Gilead fear them as much as they love them.
History[edit]
So far, they've only been featured in Wrath & Glory. What we know is that they received Primaris Marines to bolster their ranks and sorta took a page out of the Adeptus Custodes' book by having a list of 1.000 "sacrosanct" names, with one of those granted by the Chapter Master to any Absolver deemed worthy of it. Said name is tatooed on the recipient's body, but Absolvers also deck their wargear with it, knowing that when they fall in battle, their name will be relinquished and given to a new marine. Their ranks have suffered ever since the Great Rift cut them off from the greater Imperium, leading them to draft tons of neophytes into their ranks, and most of the scouts end up working as active members alongside the Absolvers. Scouts can even go decades running small groups in a rite of passage doing everything their big brothers can just to prove themselves and get their black carapace, and have started assigning individual astartes to combat minor threats in the subsystem (also handled by Primaris intercessors because the chapter at large doesn't like/trust them because YOU WEREN'T AROUND TO WITNESS THE OATH!!!1 but admit them anyway because they really need the help.)
Aside from that, Your Dudes seems in full effect about them; the rulebook flat out states that their Founding is unknown and lets players pick any traits from the First Founding loyal Chapters, giving players new to the universe a customizable Chapter without having to dig into successor Chapters (and eventually earning the ire of the GM for picking up one of the Judged or the Soul Drinkers).

Good enough for a design, still no budget for their lore.
