Locations within Überstadt[edit]

1st Layer: The Top[edit]

The Top is home to the very highest class of Überstadt. Namely, the giants. While they share the height of traditional giants, they lack their girth. They also lack the stupidity of their cousins and instead, they are sophisticated and civilized. Almost immortal, they keep record of everything that happens within the city. There are rumors that they even have records of the construction of the Überstadt long ago. The Top is shrouded by clouds and would normally be subjected to the freezing cold and lack of oxygen if it weren’t for the magical protects that it was endowed with. Filled with all sorts of spectacular structures and fascinating parks, it is the pinnacle of civilization. Ogres also make their homes here, acting as the servants of their giant masters.

2nd Layer: Draconian District[edit]

Draconian District belongs the higher class of Überstadt. Mostly, it is inhabited by kobolds and this is reflected by the structures present there. Their shape is covered in all sorts of draconic motifs and various other signs of the kobolds’ pride in their heritage. They are excellent politicians and are respected by all due to their relation to the dragons themselves – a species that has vanished long ago but has never been forgotten. Draconian District is also home to many houses of law, where men and women become judges, lawyers, and other practitioners of the law, where the more adept Lawyer Trolls work. Not to mention, this area is home to surgeons and doctoral buildings, where the wealthy can go and seek scientific healing, rather than the crude faith healing of churches. More recently, a small dock has been created here, with a pier jutting out for airships. Journeys are rare and dangerous, with only the most important tasks being approved the use of a precious airship. The decision, like many things, is in the hands of the KDPP (the Kobold Democratic Progressive Party) And finally, the Überstadt military is to be found there, as led by kobold generals.

3rd Layer: Paradise Plaza[edit]

A casino; a brothel; a nightclub; an arena; a theater or a concert hall. You name it, Paradise Plaza has it. Or rather, several of it. This section is devoted to pleasing those who can afford the entertainment there. Whatever your cup of tea is, you’ll find it on the third layer, where dreams come true. There’s both money and pleasure to be gained. This place in particular attracts in interest of the more fleshy undead, who wish to enjoy unlife to the full, as well as crime syndicates due to the rather seedy background to many of the activities that take place here. Therefore, it is home to many dwarfs as well. Other common races here include the Orcs, acting as butlers, servants and bouncers and the less adept High Elves sell themselves to the highest bidder as pets and status symbols. The saying among the Plaza is; 'If you can't find what you want in the Plaza, it isn't worth having.'

4th Layer: Worker’s Ward[edit]

The Worker’s Ward is bustling with activity every day, everyone trading all sorts of goods with each other, goblin alchemists and periodic elementalists producing all sorts of hazardous pollution. Gnome industrialists lead the construction of new buildings and production lines. The streets are filled to the brim with humans – this is the only place where you are truly likely to find that many. They mostly remain with the dull jobs, never getting very far or very high in life. The wizards also work in the Worker’s Ward, conjuring food by the ton and water by the gallons. Trolls also make their living here, as manual labor. Thievery is rampant on this level, with pickpockets working the huge crowds of humans, though they have little worth stealing.

5th Layer: Pseudo-Crypts[edit]

The Pseudo-Crypts are the beginning of the lower sections. This area is filled to the brim with mindless undead, pounding away at machinery and generating energy for all of Überstadt. They are constantly being maintained by the gnolls, who hungrily feed off the undead who has reached their final stage of decay and are now completely useless. It is the job of the gnolls to usher in the dead that have and put them to work at the millions of pistons and pumps, to keeping Überstadt running. Worryingly, a group has recently been attempting to sabotage these machines, claiming that Überstadt has no right to force the unliving into slavery. They are rumoured to be led by a prominent 2nd Tier Liche, though as of yet, their movement is not well known or taken seriously.

6th Layer: Sewers & Slums[edit]

The home of the halflings. This area is pretty much a no-go zone, even for the Clock itself. Halflings are a race of psychopathic cannibals with a bizarre fetish for sophistication. They love being sophisticated and will do anything to be more sophisticated. It has been known for halflings to fight to the death over a simple top hat or a cane. The Sewers & Slums constantly filter out all sorts of filth that drains out into the Cesspool of the 7th Layer. All the filth from the other Layers goes to the Sewers & Slums. Through these tunnels and these shafts, the halflings have access to every Layer from the 1st to the 7th and it is never known exactly when they will strike.

7th Layer: The Pits[edit]

The Pits. The home to the crazed albino elves, obsessed with ancient technology that they do not truly comprehend. They are few in number due to their constant harassment by the halflings but some say that it is they who are keeping Überstadt standing. Others say that they will bring about the fall of Überstadt with the tinkering and their meddling. No one truly knows from sure. The Cesspool is a well-known location in the Pits, rumored to be a bottomless pool of filth that is home to a leviathan known as the Serpent, so huge that it is of a size that cannot be measured. Rumors say that the machinery is what keeps this at bay. But yet again – no one really knows.
