With a name like that, you would expect these guys to listen to My Chemical Romance on their off days.

Literal emprah-damned terrorists, it is in the goddamn name if you haven't already figured it out.

Terror Squads were specialized Night Lords infantry formations during the Great Crusade and Horus Heresy. Their symbol was a bloody hand for identity which should, in noway, be confused with a similar mark used by the World Eaters' Red Hands.

Overview[edit]

When punishments against those defying the Emperor was judged to be most severe, Terror Squads were unleashed to 'deal with the nuisance'. Consisting of torturers, flayers, mutilators, head hunters, and every single edgy shit a teenage boy can think out of his basement. They were the coldest and most dispassionate members of the Legion which is one hell of a feat. As the decades progressed Terror Squads became a sink-hole for the most unstable and unsubtle members of the Night Lords, and many were already facing death sentences that had been commuted so long as they proved useful to Konrad Curze.

During the Heresy, Terror Squads were led by Headsmen. It was unknown what happened to the official formation post-Heresy, though it likely ceased to have any meaning after the legion was broken at Tsagualsa. Functionally, just about every squad in the Night Lords is a Terror Squad nowadays.

In terms of equipment, they use Astartes Boltguns, Flamers, Volkite Chargers and Rotor Cannons. In terms of melee, they usually use Chainaxes and Chain Glaives. For armour, it usually varies, but most typical models include either Mark IV: Maximus Armour or Mark III: Iron Armour.

Crunch[edit]

On the Horus Heresy tabletop, Terror Squads are very sinister fellows with the Skirmish subtype to offer some protection, Fear (1), Infiltrate (if they don't drop in via Dreadclaw) and Bloody Murder. They can all get guns (Bolter/Flamer/Volkite Charger/Rotor Cannon) so they can shoot on top of their speciality in close combat. They can upgrade their melee by taking Chainaxes or Nostraman Chainblade/Chainglaive on top of Precision Strikes (6+) letting them nail key enemies they target.
