God of Goblinoids, also means "defeat" in Turkish and Arabic. Goddamnit Gary Gygax!
In Faerun, Maglubiyet bullied several minor gods, taking them on as aspects and absorbing their followers. This is why goblinkind is so varied in apperence and ideology, but broadly tend to be crass bullies. Recently, Maglubiyet has been subsumed in turn by Bane, making goblins an aspect of conquest and the defense of the universe.
5E
In Fifth Edition, Maglubiyet is back. He has now canonically killed all but a handful of the other deities of the goblinoids, and the ones that are left are now his representatives to the living. He is not even remotely connected to Bane any more, but is actively trying to kill Gruumsh and take over Acheron for himself.
