Real World Counterparts
Rather amazingly, and unexpectedly, it turns out that the Screaming Eagles are an actual American military regiment started in World War 2, specifically the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division. And to add more 'Murica to the mix, the demolitions branch of the Screaming Eagles was called, I kid you not, the Filthy 13, known for not bathing or shaving, blowing stuff up, and being all around badasses.
