The Doom Eagles are an official Space Marine Chapter, descended from the Ultramarines in the Second Founding.
They are extremely grimdark. What, the fact that they're called "Doom Eagles" isn't enough? Their homeworld is dying, and they only choose Gathians who have lost everything of importance to them to become Aspirants. Here's what one of their Librarians has to say about them:
"All of creation suffers, young ones. Only in accepting our own mortality can we make a difference. Only in bearing the burden of our failures can we find the strength to go on. Only in detachment from glory, or honour, or jealousy... from life itself can we hope to spare others from grief. We are Doom Eagles. And we are dead already."
On /tg/
As far as /tg/-related work goes, the Doom Eagles are the predecessors of the Eyes of Mordred, and a Doom Eagles leadership team was given command of the Knights Inductor when they were founded, to instill a properly Codex-compliant standard operating procedure.
