Citadel Journal was a magazine published by Games Workshop that catered to all of its Warhammer and Warhammer 40,000 lines, including specialist games like Battlefleet Gothic, Gorkamorka, Mordheim, and Necromunda. The first official issue was published in 1994, and it ran for 50 issues. It started out as a testing/training ground for assistant game developers at GW before they could move on to first White Dwarf and then the Games Development branch of the company properly. Then it moved into the hands of the Mail Order team and became responsible for showcasing the "back catalogue"... as well as a place to house wackier Warhammer content. Then it passed to the Black Library and became the Warhammer fanzine, still with fairly wacky content, before being replaced from this role by Fanatic, whereupon it become a more serious magazine again. Then it got cancelled.
