Basics[edit]
Name: Greiorg 'Flapjack' Jossyn
Concept: Stoic (if cliched) Gunslinger
Caste/Aspect: Night
Motivation: To punish all wrongs.
Intimacies: His trusty steed
Anima Banner/Totem: Picture yourself in a 1960's spaghetti Western. Bullets zing by your head and ping off nearby objects, glass breaks as a stray shot flies through a window, and a short melody plays before the real action starts. (brununununuuuu brun brun brun). At its more intense levels (when not masked via effect) a midday sun shines down glaringly bright, as if high noon were close.
Anima Effect/Tell: May add one mote to non-Obvious charm to make its essence expenditure not add to the anima banner's effects. For 10 motes, the banner may spread around the solar, making it more difficult to notice or track exalt, and obscuring his appearance.
Experience: 18/34
Background[edit]
Flapjack grew up in a small, isolated Southern town notable only for its firedust mines. Bandit raids were frequent, but Greiorg's people were a fiery folk and not to be trifled with. It was in his 27th year that Greiorg finally grew a spine. Though his family (an only child, he never was one for people) had passed on when he was 13 (slaughtered in front of a hiding Greiorg, he had spent a solid five years completely silent and traumatized by the event), Greiorg had found himself unable to blame the bandits or feel anything but consternation when thinking of the event. That all changed during the last raid, a good six months ago. While hiding in a shed (circumstance [or was it fate?] saw it an arms warehouse), he felt something snap, and in a shining pyre of rage Greiorg's heart filled with hate.
An unfortunate bandit chose that terrible moment to burst into the shed, and Greiorg's hands found grip on a pair of flame pieces. With a growl, he let slip his terrible wrath, and smoking vengeance roared from the barrels of his guns. With all the fury of his soon-to-be patron, Greiorg armed himself as heavily as he could, and set upon the bandits. The moment his heart was decided, he felt a rush as the power of the Unconquered Sun came upon him. At that moment, he had vowed to avenge all wrongs, and let no wrongdoer go unpunished.
Long story short, it didn't go as planned. Though he managed to take down a number of the bandits, he was ultimately subdued. His exaltation proved to be his saving grace, as the bandits were a suspicious (if well armed) group, who knew slaying the Sun's Chosen brought naught but doom (Well, that's what the stories said...). Deciding for an indirect alternative, they left him to freeze in the harsh desert night.
In what seemed to be a running theme, this didn't go as planned either. The Sun's Chosen revive quickly, and, though dehydrated and hungry, Greiorg set off to find his way. Warily, he approached an oasis, though he feared the creatures he'd encounter. Fortunately for him, Simhata are bred to recognize the Chosen, and his anima banner still flared (well, still did whatever night caste banners do). Though startled at the friendliness of the herd/pack/(group of fierce lion horses), he found himself bonded to a dull gray female (well, it followed him "home," which is to say it followed him as he left the oasis). Never particularly original, he named it after the first thing he saw, the moon rising over a rolling sand dune. A sudden recollection of his vow came to mind, and, in what would be unbelievably dumb under other circumstances, he leaped upon Silver and rode off towards the glint of torchlight as the sun set.
[INSERT] Guild Backing: Well, you see, a guy's gotta eat, and Guild money is as good as any money. Oh sure, you say, they're backstabbing slave-traders you can't trust any further than you can throw, but no one said I had any longstanding loyalty. Keep my guns and my belly full, and you've got my service, until you get in my way.
Appearance[edit]
Dark haired and dark eyed, Flapjack tends to stand out a bit for his characteristic of doing the exact opposite. You're more likely to notice him, heavy jacket and all, leaving the corner he set himself up in than seeing him just sitting, enjoying a drink. He gives a very noticeable 'rough around the edges' impression, and does little to hide the fact he's armed. A flame piece sits rather visibly under his coat, but he's got another concealed under his jacket (rear pocket-ish) and a third in a boot (just in case). He makes the opposite sort of impression when riding Silver, a laconic grin shining from underneath a broad-brimmed hat, and a rifle (well, firewand) strapped to Silver's side. His eyes tend to be a bit red, but it's hard to tell if that's from lack of sleep or sipping poison a bit too recklessly.
