The Angel designated "Iruel" was not immediately detected upon its entry into Boston. Angel manifested in a nonphysical form, which took control of individuals around the Boston area. The Angel's control was extended to new individuals upon direct skin-to-skin contact, much like an infection. It controlled up to three quarters of the civilian population of the city at once, although "infected" individuals never entered the GeoFront.

At the time of the attack, I was in Jethro's bar in downtown Boston, with Solomon. The two of us noticed patrons behaving oddly, and when some of them became hostile, we opened fire and retreated. I ordered the pilots to be evacuated to the GeoFront; the two boys were in the dorms at school and Sonny was at the Skate Park. The school was surrounded with infected individuals, so VTOLs were ordered to evacuate them and the other students. Sonny was evacuated by her security detail, but their van crashed and they were forced to proceed to the GeoFront on foot. Since they were two miles from the nearest access point, a VTOL was dispatched to airlift her out.

Once the pilots were recovered, Units 10, 11, and 13 were sortied; by this time the Angel's primary physical manifestation had been detected on the south side of the city. Infected individuals were walking towards this point, where they seemed to dissolve into an orange liquid and merge with the Angel. The Evas were able to destroy the Angel quickly, but there were massive casualties due to the crowds of people approaching the Angel. Once the Angel was destroyed, infected people seemed to be restored, although with significant mental trauma. All Nerv employees who were at any time infected have been transferred to less sensitive posts.

The Angel was singularly unable to defend itself against the Evangelions. It appears that its plan had been to assault the pilots individually, rather than attempt to breach the GeoFront right away. This is shows a disturbing level of intelligence and forethought that the Angels have not previously displayed. Additional security measures are being put in place.

A third of the population of Boston was either killed as they attempted to breach Nerv security cordons or merged with the Angel. Significant morale problems as a result. [Just leave that to me. -Eric]
