Major Districts

City of Roses Major Districts
  1. Downtown: Downtown Portland has been declared an Elysium after Kindred-on-Kindred violence erupted during the conflict over who should be Prince of the city here. This area is also the Rack, containing the highest population of bars, nightclubs, concert halls, and other activities that run on long into the night in the city. The Prince's haven is also here, located in the Crystal Ballroom concert hall. Despite being a domain the Prince himself resides and the only major Elysium in the city, the current Prince has granted <name to be filled in later> regency over Downtown.
  2. Old Town: A small Domain, but a hub of transportation for the mortals living in the city. More than a few Kindred have also made their way through on the trains that used to make their way here. Due to Old Town now containing Portland's Historic Chinatown, the few Kindred that claim hunting grounds and havens in the area tend to also be of asian descent and few other Kindred are willing to make any claim here due to the high rate of violent and armed crimes here. No Kindred has been inside the Chinese Garden here; any vampire that gets too close starts feeling somewhat ill and nervous.
  3. Pearl District: This is a more affluent area of the city. Million dollar condos fill the upper levels of the condos and small businesses in beautiful storefronts fill the street. However, that facade is only skin deep. Beneath it lie bored day traders and salarymen looking to blow off some steam or have a good time when they get the chance; Kindred that are well connected enjoy themselves immensely while taking advantage of these drug and booze addled mortals.
  4. Industrial District: Old factories and warehouses stretch from the waterfront back inland. In this Industrial wasteland, a Kindred can get away with pretty much anything before the mortal police would be likely to respond. This area, poorer than much of the surrounding area, is rife with vagrants and junkies nobody would miss if they disappeared; but, by the same regard, no Kindred would want to be seen hunting in. The regent of this domain has been trying to clean up the area and make it more tasteful, but has had limited success as most of the city's real revitalization efforts remain on the other side of the river.
  5. Hollywood District: There's really little to note for this domain, other than the rising crime rate due to the light rail running through the area enabling a quick getaway. The last Prince of the city rewarded this domain to its current regent more or less as a punishment to let him know, without using words, that he felt he was so incompetent he could only be responsible for a relatively meaningless part of the city.
  6. Hawthorne District: Some would say this area is the true face of Portland. Rather than trying to hide its face under a new, modern glamor this neighborhood embraces anachronism, mysticism, and wholesale oddness and chintziness from the residential areas to the stores, restaurants, bars, and hotels. The majority of the city's Malks live in this area. Despite that, however, there are whispers in the night that it might be something else causing the mortals to embrace the unusual.

Areas of Note

City of Roses Areas of Note
  • A: Cathedral Park is haunted by a ghost. In 1949 a girl was abducted here and held captive for a week while horrible things were done to her. Since that day, Kindred and mortals in the area alike have reported hearing disembodied screams in the park. The Nosferatu in the city are particularly interested in this ghost, although they treat the area with caution.
  • B: Oaks Amusement Park, while technically just outside of the Portland city limits, is an area of note due to strange happenings there. It is officially off limits to Kindred due to a strange series of disappearances there in the 80s and 90s.
  • C: The Portland Children's Museum is located where a branch of the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry was formerly at. After the closing of the OMSI branch, several Kindred had been using it to manufacture and sell an illegal substance to the mortals in the city. No Kindred made a move on them, being too wrapped up in the conflict over who would be Prince of the city, yet the building was still renovated and is now a museum for Children. No one is quite sure what happened to the Kindred that made this building their haven.
  • D: The Portland Shangai Tunnels have a long and sordid history. In the past they were used to capture and sell men to ships to use as slaves, and after the shanghaiing business dried the more nefarious (and often Kindred controlled) groups in the city quickly converted it for use as opium dens. Eventually even that fell to the wayside and now the majority of the city's Nosferatu dwell here.
  • E: The Crystal Ballroom, a smaller concert venue, is where the Prince currently makes his residence.
  • F: The Lancea Sanctum's official holding in the city is a gothic church that, conveniently enough, is located both near the Rack and within the city's Elysium. The Ordo Dracul use a mansion as their meeting place to conduct business.
  • G: Where the mortals currently call Delta Park there once was a town that had been used for dam and dockworkers on the Columbia River. This eventually became housing for poorer people and WWII veterans that couldn't afford to live in the city itself. However, the dike holding back the river burst and the entire city was flooded, leaving 15 dead. This section of the city still has a darkness lingering from the tragedy here and several ghosts haunt this place where they once lived. No Kindred willingly lives here, but a few of the less highly looked upon bloodlines have members that have taken up residence here. A few Nosferatu have been known to come here and try to contact the ghosts that haunt this place.
  • H: Forest Park is where the majority of the less urbanly inclined Gangrel live, but god knows why. They've learned to adapt to the wilderness but the Kindred fear that worse things lurk in the dark there than them.
