Background

I, Saul of One Hand, have written this testament as a record of my revelations from our LORD. This shall tell you of the signs by which you may recognize the Angels of the LORD, and prepare for their coming. If you are reading this, then it is likely that the Angels have come, and this is HIS time, the End of Times. May our LORD have mercy on you.

Ledaal Catala Ezra found this scroll in the libraries of the Heptagram during his studies to be a sorcerer. It was amid several treatises on demonology, specifically the ones descended from the Demon City itself, burrowed deep into the spine of one of the books. It was marked 'proscribed' by the librarians, but it had been inside one of his own textbooks. He read it carefully, becoming entranced, then appalled by the promises and prophecies written by the mad Dynast. He kept it hidden, studying its words and keeping an eye for any sign of the mythical beings written in the scroll. When he graduated from the Heptagram, he moved immediately to Port Calin and began searching for these 'Angels', so that he could bring down the Wyld Hunt on them and destroy them before the terrible things he'd read came true.

He found his sign as he lay pinned underneath the burning wreckage of a roof in the town of Bokora. He saw, standing over him, a vision of terror and beauty, the second Angel of the Scroll of the Revelations. She smiled down at him, wings of flame burning behind her, and kicked the burning beam off of his chest, freeing him. She then bent and kissed the lucky survivor's bleeding forehead and chuckled darkly. "I'll let you go this once. Tell everyone you know what happened here, and let them know I'm coming," she said. She picked him up, then turned and walked away, bathing him in the heat of her majesty.

As he watched her leave, he realized that he would be powerless to stop these Angels. The Angel of Devastation was not the most powerful, even. there were more written in the Scroll, worse things. And each served a Lord who was the most terrible of all. He looked up at the ash-choked sky and wept, praying for the safety of this Lord. Mercy upon him and his family. A voice spoke to him, and he knew it was the Lord the Angel of Devastation served. It offered mercy, on the condition that he serve Him. He accepted, and was instantly swept away to Hell.

When he awoke, he found himself burning with a new purpose. Armed with the might and word of his LORD, he would serve the Angel of Devastation, and spread the word of his LORD to all, and grant mercy to those who accepted HIS word.
