Tyranthikos
Before Peter Turbo sacked all of them for being incompetent fuckwits, the Tyranthikos was the Iron Warriors original Honour Guards for Perturabo.
Overview[edit]
The Tyranthikos, also known as the Dominators, were an elite cadre of line breakers and assault troops within the Iron Warriors Legion during the Great Crusade.
Clad in advanced and rare Tartaros Pattern Terminator Armour, each was a veteran of many bloody sieges. Each Grand Battalion of the Iron Warriors had a unit of Tyranthikos, and Perturabo himself used them as bodyguards in battle until their replacement by the Iron Circle, when the Tyranthikos failed to prevent an Imperial Fists boarding on Ol'Pete's personal flagship during the Battle of Phall. Due to this, the Tyranthikos have a massive hate boner against all things robotic.
The title itself seems to have its origins on Olympia. The twelve lords of Olympia were themselves referred to as the Tyranthikos.
In terms of equipment, they come standard with Thunder Hammers or Chainfists, although they can pick any Combi-weapons of their preference or carry a Multi-Melta for heavy-duty tank busting.
Crunch[edit]
On the Horus Heresy tabletop, whilst they don't have an official model yet, they do have rules. They are a squad of Termies with Hatred (Automata), WS5 and Chosen Warriors, that all come equipped with Thunder Hammers or Chainfists for fucking up robots. They can swap their Combi-Bolters for both kinds of Combi-Weapons, while Multi-meltas can be picked up as a heavy weapon. They can be taken as a Retinue for Perturabo to represent their role before the Battle of Phall, where they gain Feel No Pain (6+) but lose Hatred and lock the army out of taking Iron Circle (Iron Circle weren't invented yet). They are the only source of WS5 Terminators in the Iron Warriors list outside of a Command Squad, so they are worth considering simply as better Thunder Hammer Legion Cataphractii, as +1 WS matters a lot more in 2.0 and they're actually cheaper on top of all of their special rules. Further, consider taking the Multi-melta, as it's a lot better than the Plasma Blaster it replaces at killing TEQs and vehicles.
