The new girl on the skeletal block, Lady Olynder is the new Mortarch of Grief, and is the leader of the Nighthaunt Processions. In life, she was a Gold Digger's Gold Digger, scheming and sleeping her way to the top, where she married (and then quickly dispatched) the King of her nation, Dolorum. She wore a veil and cried a lot about it in public Victoria-style, yet the veil hid her shit-eating grin over how smart she was. She ruled like this for a few years, until the Age of Chaos came-a-knocking.
The forces of Nurgle quickly invaded Dolorum, but she didn't care since she was all safe in her tower, partying away like Masque of the Red Death. But this didn't last; the grandfather's forces cornered her in her throne room, and she tried to parley with her. This was when everyone's favourite Skele-Pope decided to intervene; she'd been pissing him off for a while, and she was gonna pay for it. He seized her soul and doomed her to haunt the ruins of her Kingdom for all eternity, feeling all the misery in the Mortal Realms as revenge for the fake tears she cried in life.
Naggy then proceeded to forget about her, until the Necroquake unleashed the Nighthaunt on the realms. He realised how spooky they were, but they needed direction to be truly efficient. He then hosted a Death equivalent of Dragon's Den to decide on who would be the new Mortarch. And lo and behold, he stumbled upon the ruins of Dolorum, finding that she had organised a hugeass Ghost-Kingdom while he wasn't looking. And so, she became the Mortarch of Grief, marshalling the ghosties into the procession we all know and love.
