"THIS QUIET OFFENDS SLAANESH!"

"It is forbidden to kill; therefore all murderers are punished unless they kill in large numbers and to the sound of trumpets."

– Voltaire

Kakophoni (Named after their very own weapon or vice versa), also known as Cacophonies were specialized troops utilized by the Emperor's Children Space Marine Legion early in the Horus Heresy. These Death Metal heads were the proto-Noise Marines and therefore its precursor before such a thing originally existed, and as such, were immediately 100% more Awesome.

Overview[edit]

First developed upon the corruption of the Legion as well as their Primarch Fulgrim in the aftermath of the Battle of Isstvan III, practices and experiments that had once been long secret were unleashed and fused with malign Warp forces. The result was savagely powerful weapons produced from a fusion of Imperial and Xenos technology called...well...Kakophoni. They were able to unleash blasts of screaming discordant energy that can rupture flesh and incinerate metal, but their most...interesting ability was to open up the minds of those they touch to the hentai monsters of the Warp. How these weapons could 'open up the minds' whilst the target is too busy/distracted in having his head caved in by sonic amplifications, we have no idea. They were also equipped with in-built sonic microphones called Sonic Shriekers that has definitely NO bearing with the Eldar's Banshee Mask. However, these weapons were also dangerously unpredictable in their early versions. They also carry a Bolt Pistol as a sidearm, but nobody gives a shit about it.

They were led by an Orchestrator who can be armed with a Chainsword or Power Weapon/Power Fist.

These warriors first made their encore debut for the first time in the Drop Site Massacre to release their new hit single. Unfortunately, the guests weren't too impressed. Some have even made their own opinions on their new hit R&B track. Suffice to say, the Kakophoni would eventually be replaced by the newer boy bands as the OGs began to degenerate, self-mutilate, and mutate under Chaos influence.

As they were considered as 'elite' shock troopers, Kakophonies wore the more (At the time) modern Mark IV: Maximus Armour. The Orchestrator on the other hand wore Artificer Armour.

Crunch[edit]

They are 150pts for five noisy boys and 25pts per model for an additional five. Proto-Noise Marines with BS4, each one is armed with the Kakophoni: a 36" S6 AP5, Assault 3 gun with Pinning, Shell Shock (1), Deflagrate and Gets Hot. They have Bolt Pistols for melee purposes and Sonic Shriekers to encourage enemy units going for a Charge to fuck around and find out. The Orchestrator can buy artificer armour and a Chainsword or Power Weapon/Fist; the latter choice is questionable, but has its uses. Kakophoni Squads are Traitor only, Fearless, and can take a Rhino as a Dedicated Transport.
