Hive Fleet Moloch

Hive Fleet Moloch is a small Tyranid Hive Fleet active on the galactic northeast in M41.

Not that much is known about this hive fleet, mostly because the small amount of fluff that's been released about them until now. In fact, there is more written about its victims than about the Hive Fleet itself, and that isn't that much either.

Tyranid activity in the Ghoul Stars

Hive Fleet Moloch was first discovered in the last century of M41. Sources may vary, but the earliest human contact with the hive fleet recorded was on the agri-world of Jollov in 932.M41. A very ordinary and unnoteworthy planet otherwise, the discovery of Moloch coming for it coincided with the apparent discovery of an STC on the planet, and thus, a decent amount of forces were dispatched to defend the planet until the device had been safely rescued. The results of this campaign are inconclusive (as in, the sources don't tell us whether the planet was eaten or not, if the STC was discovered and safely dispatched...).

Moloch's rampage on the Tarellian Empire

One of the things most important feats of Hive Fleet Moloch is the destruction of the remainings of the Tarellian Empire. A small xenos civilization, the tarellians were reptilian creatures (very close to lizardmen) were first driven to extinction by the Imperium of Man, when they bombarded the tarellian's homeworld with a nasty dose of virus bombing. After retreating to a safer location and having a couple of decades to recover, they found themselves directly in the path of Hive Fleet Moloch, and were almost nommed to oblivion. In the last moment, the survivors were saved by Tau forces, and the tarellians, in return, swore loyalty to the Greater Good. Now they mostly work as mercenaries and Tau auxiliaries, specially when fighting humans or tyranids.
