The Golden Blades were originally created as a color scheme for Dawn of War by vitorsly but eventually got some lore of their own. Descendants of the Imperial Fists, they take their chapter tactics as "Black Templars light", choosing to charge at the enemies, brandishing Chainswords and fighting in the tick of battle.
The Chapter
The Golden Blades are a chapter of brave and driven men, who fight without fear or remorse. They patrol their home sector of Vixtendus in search of enemies of the emperor, most notably Orks and Necrons. They focus on melee fighting, most often using ranged weapons as sidearms or support for their assault troops. They tend to be quite mobile, often using Jump-packs or for their tactical marines, Rhino Transports. However they lack tanks and artillery or ways to combat them.

Organization
1st Company -The 1st Company of the Golden Blades tends to have between 50 and 70 Battle Brothers, plus the Masters of the Librarium, Sanctity, the Honour Guard and the First Lord, currently Blade King Vancel. They lack Terminator armors, possessing only about 20 suits, but since they feel they are too bulky and cumbersome, they rarely use them anyway.
Battle Companies -Battle Companies of the Burning Blades maintain 4 Tactical Squads, 5 Assault Squads and 1 Devastator Squad.
Reserve Companies -Like a Codex chapter, the Golden Blades maintain 4 reserve companies, but rather than 2 tactical, 1 assault and 1 devastator, the instead have 2 assault companies and the Devastators are coupled with the tactical companies.
Initiate Company -Rather than having scouts, the Golden Blades put their Neophytes, called Initiates, directly into combat situations when needed. The Initiates are thought how to wield a sword and charge at Xenos and Heretics alike, but unlike the Black Templars, due to their low numbers, the Initiates are watched over carefully and made sure to survive.
Roles
Aspirants- The Golden Blades recruit from their home-world of Karina. They go around the planet looking for children with love for combat. They are then put trough several tests in order to determine, not only their physical aptitude, but more importantly, their resolve and determination. As the children of the planet hear the stories of these golden-armoured knights, they practice blade-wielding since early childhood, and often spar with eachother, in order to be considered worthy of becoming a Golden Blade.
Initiates- after the proper procedures, Aspirants are given Carapace armour, a chainsword and a Bolt Pistol and formed into 5-man squads, overseen by a Battle Brother. While most of them enjoy this style of fighting, there are those who prefer ranged engagements. These are given Bolt Guns and will be put into future Tactical or Devastator squads.
Battle Brothers- Once all the procedures are complete, the Initiates are elevated into Battle Brothers. Here they are inducted into either the Assault Reserve Companies or the Tactical Reserve Companies, depending on their fighting style during their time as initiates.
"Assault Squad-" The Battle Brothers who are more aggressive and determined join the Assault Squads. They are given a Chainsword and a Bolt Pistol (or occasionally Hand Flamers) and told to destroy the enemies of the Emperor, something they do very enthusiastically. Ocassionaly the choose to use the much larger two-handed "Claymore" Chainsword, but due to it's weight and unwieldiness, they cannot use a Bolt Pistol or a Jump pack at the same time.
"Tactical Squad-" Not all Golden Blades are happy to fight Orks, Necrons and Tyranids at close range. These Battle Brothers are instead given Bolters (or Flamers, Meltas and Plasma Guns), and are tasked with laying down suppressing fire on the enemy. Even among Tactical Marines, there are those that prefer larger and more powerful ranged weaponry. These are tasked into Devastator Squads.
"Devastator Squad-" The few Golden Blades that choose heavy weaponry over charging against the enemy or more versatile ranged weaponry. Tend to be equipped with Heavy Bolters, or more rarely Multi-Meltas. While they tend to be considered "sissies" that cant "bring the fight to the enemy", they are respected as the Golden Blades anti-armor specialists, something the rest of the chapter lacks.
Veterans- Members of the First Company, these Marines have fought for many decades and trough thousands of Battles.
"Vanguard Veteran Squad-" Equipped with awesome Power Swords, or Claymore Chainswords, the Seraphs are the elite fighters of the chapter, known for their bravery, determination and utmost zeal.
"Sternguard Veteran Squad-" The chapters elite ranged combatants, they use a multitude of weapons and specialized ammo to destroy key enemy targets like commanders or tanks.
"Terminator Squads-" Almost always of the assault variety, Terminator Squads are formed at opportune moments when the chapter has to deal with Void-based missions, extreme close range urban fighting or simply intimidation.Since the chapter lacks suits, there are never more than 2 squads and rarely to they reach a single one. When they are employed, they then to bring a Chainfist + Storm Bolter, Storm Shield + ThunderHammer, or Lightning Claws.
Chaplains- Golden Blades Chaplains are somewhat different from other chapter's chaplains. They are picked from the most charismatic Veterans and tasked with keeping the Battle Brothers enthusiastic and determined for battle. As Veterans, they are expert hand-to-hand fighters but use Thunderhammers rather than the rest of the chapters preference for bladed weapons.
Librarians- Psykers are rare in Karina and even rarer inside the chapter. The Golden Blades are distrustful of those that can harness the powers of the warp, so they only allow inside a small number of Psykers at a time. There are approximately 3 to 6 Librarians in the chapter at a time and they tend to prefer powers that improve their, or their brothers, melee combat, whether trough enchanting weapons and armor, or inspiring their wielders.
Honour Guard - The Blades of Honour, wielding relic Power Swords and Jump-packs, they fight without fear for their Lord.
Company Captains - referred to as 'Lords', Astartes reach this rank by acts of glory and fortitude.
Chapter Master -called a 'Great Lord', he is chosen from the 'Lords' (Company Captains) by bravery and honour rather than tactical skill or combat prowess. Also the leader of the Celestium Wings.
Significant Golden Members
Great Lord Lancius- Leader of the Golden Blades and Founder of the Celestium Wings, Great Lord Lancius is renowned for his bravery and sense of honour. Raised to be a blacksmith, like his father and grandfather before him, Lancius always grew up around weapons. When he wasn't forging weapons, he was training with them in order to join the Golden Blades. However, due to lack of time or a tutor, he only was just good enough to join the Chapter. As a scout, he was sub-par but very determined, and inspired his squad-mates to strive for better. As a Battle Brother he was kept under watch by Veterans and Chaplains for his ability to inspire troops to great feats despite his mediocre combat skill. While he never was an exceptional marine, he always strived to fight harder and harder to beat his more talented Battle Brothers. Eventually he rised to Veteran, 6th Lord and then 1st Lord. During his time as 1st Lord of the Golden Blades, he met Cannoness Belicia from the Order of the White Duchess, who helped him in a though campaign against a Necron army by leading a detachment of Sisters. Lancius formed a relationship with Belicia during this campaign and fathered who would later become Cannoness Tenrina, of the order of the Mithril Blades. After the campaign and the death of the then Great Lord, he was chosen to replace him, and as such he became the Great Lord of the Golden Blades. He then founded the Celestium Wings with Silver Shields Chapter Master Valerius, Lead Hammers Grand Master Arcturus, Aluminum Spears Great Khan Delfin and Olympus Bolts Lord of Thunder Ilf Goldfang.
"Blade King" Vancel- First Lord Vancel, more well known as the Blade King is the best warrior in the chapter without a doubt. From a family of Nobles, rather than the more humble origins of his brothers, Vancel took a liking to dueling since very young. His parents did not approve of his wish to join the Golden Blades, believing he would get himself killed, and his job should be ruling a county, not fighting Xenos and Daemons. Nonetheless, Vancel sneaked away from his family's mansion and practiced blade techniques with some of the best duellists in the planet, in return for part of his family's wealth. Eventually he was picked up by the Golden Blades as one of the best sword wielders in their history. As an Initiate, he refused to use his Bolt Pistol, opting instead to wield a Chainsword and a Combat Knife at the same time. As a Battle Brother, he mastered using 2 Chainswords at once, wielding them with quick reflexes and incredible prowess. He quickly rose to Veteran and once Lancius became Great Lord, he was appointed leader of the Veterans to replace him. Now the Blade King is known for jumping into the middle of the enemy groups with a Relic Power Sword and a Master-crafted Chainsword, Artificer Armour and a Jump-pack to tear down dozens of Orks in minutes. While he is an incredible fighter, his lack of ranged weaponry requires him to rely on his squad to protect him, and his "Better than you" personality doesn't win him any friends, putting him in the position of the best solo-fighter in the Celestium Wings, but a poor leader overall.
