Another product of /tg/ messing around with the chapter generator tables. What came out this time was Ghost Rider the chapter. All around a rousing success.

Fluff[edit]

Homeworld Pre-Destruction[edit]

Orichalcum was a savage feral world of vast shallow oceans and soaring, jungle-covered mountain chains. It had no central government beyond the Brazen Chains, who sometimes served as mediators and negotiators between warring clans and tribes. Sometime in the 37th millennium, the entire chapter was called away on a crusade. During this time, one of the dreaded black ships of the Adeptus Astra Telepathica crashed into one of the mountain peaks of the world. The surviving psykers were taken in by some of the tribes, who considered them to be sent by the God-Emperor himself during a time of severe tribal warfare, which had claimed the lives of most who were wise enough to rule without the Brazen Chains’ assistance. Unfortunately for Orichalcum, it was not the God-Emperor who had led the black ship to their homeworld, but the Prince of Pleasure; a few of the psykers on board the vessel had been corrupted by Slaanesh during the journey, whose promises of comfort and rapture were truly tempting within the prison holds of the black ship. These were the saboteurs who had caused the crash, and they were the natural leaders who stepped forward to lead the Orichalci.

After a decade of crusading the chapter returned to find their world almost completely enthralled by chaos. A massive warp storm had begun to envelop the sun, all but the most isolated and independent of the tribesmen had been converted to the supposed “True Emperor of Unity” and the former prisoners of the black ship were nearly finished summoning a greater daemon of Slaanesh. The chapter master and the first company were able to slaughter the cultists behind the summoning, but found that they could neither slow nor stop the emerging daemon. In a final act of valor, Chapter Master Raguel had the Librarians bind the daemon to his bike, which he then bound himself to with chains of sanctified metal. He then rode the shrieking, daemonic motorcycle into the opening portal to stop anything else from getting through, buying the Librarians enough time to seal it shut.

Homeworld Post-Destruction[edit]

Orichalcum now lies a cold barren wasteland, apparently devoid of life. Though corrupted beasts yet lurk beneath the surface, the lifeless husk of this world is dominated by endless sheets of ice and barren mountains.

Terrors of the Underhive[edit]

The Brazen Chains typically find themselves fighting in underhives as this is normally where the highest concentration of heretics are. Their required reliance on ranged weapons in these close quarters are what has lead to the belief that they prefer ranged combat. In truth they prefer their Power Chains, but often find them unwieldy in urban warfare; it is important to thin the ranks of the enemy from afar before engaging at melee range, to ensure they can make the most of the reach and flexibility of their favored weapons.

Trials of the Aspirant[edit]

To become a marine of the Brazen Chains Aspirants must pass five trials.

First the aspirant must leave their sealed underground communities and make their way across the surface to the fortress monastery. Unfortunately for most aspirants the surface is prowled by servitors programmed to try and kill would-be Aspirants. To traverse the barren surface safely many must rely on tight passages and maze like shallow tunnels and crevasses to safely reach their destination.

Once the Aspirant has made it to the fortress monastery they are fed and given one nights rest as congratulations. The next morning they're stripped of everything and sent into a labyrinth of tunnels beneath the monastery where they must survive three months with only what they can find and craft. Many have perished at the appendages of the ancient warp touched creatures that lurk in these tunnels.

If the Aspirant still lives they will be retrieved after the allotted three months. They will be given another nights rest and on the next morning they will be thrown into an arena with nothing but a combat knife. There opponent is an experienced marine of the chapter. Such a fight is of course impossible, but it is not about winning. The true purpose of this trial is to find the fight in the aspirant. If they submit or forfeit than they do not have what it takes to be a true brother. But if they fight, claw, and bite till the last moment refuses to submit than they may have what it takes.

For their fourth trial the Aspirant will be dragged into a sealed chamber and then be strapped to a chair. They'll be forced to watch for a continuous month the death of Orichalcum and hundreds of other worlds at the hand of Chaos. This is to embed in them the hate of Chaos so prevalent in the chapter. Once they're driven to animalistic rage they're released and their hatred of Chaos is nurtured, here they will learn their mission as the Emperor's angels of vengeance.

For their fifth and final trial they must once again traverse the barren surface to recover an ancient piece of the planets history. Such items range from weapons, clothes, lost locations, and artifacts from the planets primal human past. To return with a great relic of the planets history is believed to herald the future of a legendary figure in the chapter. Those who do this are watched with great interest.

There is an unofficial sixth trial that Neophytes must forge their own Power Chain upon completing their training.

Codex Chapter
Solo Mode Abilities
Quick reaction is the hallmark of this Chapter. While in Solo Mode, the Battle-Brother is considered to have the Lightning Reflexes Talent. At Rank 3, the Battle-Brother receives a +10 to all Dodge tests. At Rank 5, the Battle-Brother is considered to have the Rapid Reaction Talent. At Rank 7, once per game session the Battle-Brother may automatically pass any one Agility-Based test (for Opposed Tests, the Battle-Brother is considered to have rolled a 01).
Squad Attack Patterns
Oath of Vengeance Action: Free Action, Cost: 1, Sustained: No. When any member of the Kill-Team suffers Damage, the character receives a +4 bonus to Damage rolls against the attacker. At Rank 5, this ability may be Sustained.
Squad Defense Patterns
Only in Death... Action: Free Action, Cost: 3, Sustained: Yes. Space Marines from this Chapter are venerated amongst the Imperium for their ability to fight on through even the most grievous wounds. While this ability is active, the Battle-Brother and any within Support Range of him ignore the effects of any critical damage that would not kill them until this ability is no longer active. Once this ability ends, they suffer the full effects of any critical damage they received. This ability cannot be improved.
Chapter Advance Table
No Respite For The Enemy.

Narrative Game Crunch[edit]

Captain on Bike base template: Chapter Tactic: Red Thirst, +1 to wound rolls after charging, getting charged or a heroic intervention (obviously) Warlord Trait: Selfless Valour, can make heroic interventions from 6" instead of 3" (so the self-sacrificing glory hound can hound glory through self sacrifice) swaps master-crafted boltgun for power sword, swaps chainsword for storm shield; final price 112 points swaps power sword for Archangel's Shard artifact, gets 1d3 wounds vs. <MONSTERS> & 1d6 wounds vs. DEAMON MONSTERS (maximum rip & tear against big-ass daemons)

Additional abilities for a Legendary Hero (3 total): Inspirational Fighter, Blood Angels can reroll 1's to hit within 6" (gives him the standard Chapter Master rule) Icon of Retribution, Blood Angels in 6" can roll to inflict a mortal wound on enemies that kill them on a 5+ (makes sense for a bunch of vengeful nutters to get even more vengeful and nutty around their chained-up biker-king) Impetuous, can re-roll failed charge rolls (because someone who'll chain themselves to a demon bike & ride into hell on it is definitely impetuous, & because we gotta go fast)
