A sage's library of spells are a result of meditation, introspection, and insight. They often reflect the desires or disposition of the sage, but there's no rational pattern governing what spells a sage learns. Each spell requires an hour of preparation, after which it immediately begins working. If a sage wants to delay the activation of the spell, he must also sacrifice $5 in special reagents (listed under delay reagents) and take a second to finish the ritual when he does want it to work.

Sample Spells

Initiate Plague [18]

While channeling this spell, the sage must keep a mental picture of his target in his mind. At the end of the ritual, the sage and target have a quick contest between the sage's Will and the target's Health. The sage receives a penalty based on the distance between him and the target(See long distance penalties). If the target fails, he takes 1d of toxic damage 24 hours later. He then makes a Health roll each day afterwards, success means that he's cured, failure means he takes another 1d of toxic damage. This damage can't be healed until the disease is cured. Once the target takes at least two-thirds of his hit points in damage (7 damage for a person with 10 HP), his throat begins to close and he will begin choking on any food he eats. After two weeks, the disease is automatically cured. This disease is also highly contagious, people that spend time around an infected person must roll against health-4 daily or fall ill themselves.

Delay reagent: Spoiled fruit, incense

Advantage: Innate Attack(Toxic 1d)(Cyclic 1 day 10%, Cyclic 13 days, resistible 65%, Highly contagious +50%, Symptom(Choking) 100%, Sage -65%, Malediction(long range) 200%, Onset(1 day) -30%)

Object Reading [9]

After finishing the ritual, the sage must touch an object or stand in a location. The sage then makes an Intelligence roll. If he's successful, information about the object or place rushes into his mind, such as what kind of emotions are associated with it, who made or built it, why it was built or made, and the general nature of events that happened involving it. How far back this information goes depends on the margin of success: 0 only looks at events that happened that same day, 1 looks back up to 10 days, 2 looks back up to 100 days ago, 3 looks back up to 3 years ago, 4 looks back up to 30 years ago, 5 looks back up to 300 years ago, and so on. Either way, an object or place can only be read once a day by the same sage.
