The Glutton is the malevolent Gnome God of Disaster and Hunger from the world of Dungeons & Dragons. Very little is known about this deity, who exists more as a bogeyman for gnomes than anything; he is reputed to have been a gnome who was cursed into a hideous form - or at least the form of a massive, perpetually ravenous badger or wolverine - and ever since has held a desire to consume the gnomes and all they hold dear.

As such, the Glutton's worship exists only amongst lunatics and monsters; the mad, the power-crazed or the hopeless are lured into small cults that worship the Glutton with acts of gluttony (and possibly other, darker feasts). He does have enough might to send forth a 20 hit dice balor demon as his Herald, though, and to command nalfeshnee demons, howlers and greater barghests as his allies.

Though not mentioned in his lore, it's logical to suppose that the Glutton would be heavily worshipped by werebadgers or werewolverines of gnomish origin.

Publication History

The Glutton is one of the four gnome deities added to the Lords of the Golden Hills in the Races of Stone splatbook for Dungeons & Dragons 3rd Edition. Precisely why they were invented will perhaps forever remain a mystery. He overlaps to at least some degree with the original evil gnome god, Urdlen, but whereas Urdlen is more a God of Avarice, the Glutton is a god of actual rapacious hunger. He is spectacularly lazy in design, even for a gnome god from that splatbook.
