Vladimir Pugh

Vladimir Pugh was a Chapter Master of The Imperial Fists, and a damned old one at that, having first been appeared back in the halcyon days of Ian Watsons Rogue Trader-era novel Space Marine. He was noted for having had his taste buds excised as penance after he lost (almost) two full companies of Space Marines in a single campaign, and for being seriously into the Fists' self-mortification kink by adding a scar to his body for each Marine lost under his command. Apparently, the High Lords of Terra offered him a position among them at one point (precisely how this would work is unknown, all things considered), but he turned it down.

Pugh eventually died on Drashi killing a Tyranid Norn Queen by getting his troops to fire on the roof of a cavern, releasing lava that destroyed him, his bodyguard and the Tyranids in the typical "Imperial Fists die standing!" fashion. Darnath Lysander would have taken his position, if he hadn't refused it and deferred to Vorn Hagen.
