Hello I am a campaign page. The channel is #Exalted-Modern
What is the deal?
Our modern world, pretty much as it is right now, suddenly snaps into EXALTED rules. Exaltations are flying every which way, gods are waking up to a trashed Yu-Shan, they're paving a 5-lane highway to Malfeas and no-one has any idea how this all happened.
What has happened so far?
- March 20th, 2010: At 17:32 (GMT), the precise moment of the spring equinox (And the moment the Manual of Exalted Power: Alchemicals became available for download as a .PDF file), the world was turned upside-down. Essence filled the air, Exaltation began to erupt in the masses of humanity, and strange phenomena were reported all over the world. The moon, sun and stars disappeared completely from the sky, replaced by a swirl of colors lights and symbols that defied comprehension, and demons began to appear through cracks in reality. Modern technology failed almost completely, making communication impossible and causing chaos in the developed world, and the appearance of Gods sent the religious into a frenzy. It was not known at the time, but this was the beginning of the first Calibration.
- April 15th, 2010: As dawn rose over the world, the madness of the last 25 days seemed to draw back. This marked the end of the first Calibration. The moon and stars returned fresh and new, and electronic systems began to come back on line. Damage to networks had been extensive, but repairs could now be made.
- June 21st, 2010: At a special session of the UN, world leaders called for a gathering of Exalted to ensure a measure of sanity could be maintained in this new age. The call was in a response to the chaos and devastation caused by Exalted settling their differences at the end of a sword rather than diplomacy.
- March 20th, 2011: At 23:21 (GMT), the moment of the Spring Equinox, Calibration begins again. This time the change was not quite as violent, although strangeness did abound. The next morning, the first Deliberative convened at the UN building in New York City. Preludes will conclude sometime around this date, and the chronicle's events will take place after this date.
- April 4th, 2011: At dawn, 15 days after it began, the effects of Calibration once again recede. The moon returns to the sky to begin its cycle again.
What is different?
- Lunars use Original Chargen: http://fixalted.bazzalisk.org/index.php?title=Domino%27s_Original_Chargen_Rules They don't get a 'floating dot' to put in caste or favoured abilities though. Also, at some point, someone fixed the castes, so chose from the castes available in DotFA, and lunar tattoos are not needed. Any Shaping or Wyld effect on Lunars physical form is only temporary, and disappear the next time they shift forms.
- Exalted and Heroic Mortals can have as many specialties in a given ability as they like, although they can only benefit from 3 dice of specialties on a given roll.
- Characters start with Essence 3 at chargen, and cannot raise their Essence with bonus points.
- Craft (Air/Earth/Fire/Water/Wood) is now just Craft (Elemental). For modern technology (developments within the last two centuries), there is Craft (Advanced), which is also a mundane craft ability.
- Each initiation into a circle of sorcery comes with 16 xp worth of spells. Terrestrial circle spells cost 4xp, Celestial cost 8, and Solar costs 16, same goes for Necromancy and it's equivalents. Favoring Occult only reduces the cost of purchasing the initiation charms, not spells.
- http://wiki.stryck.com/NewBeginnings/MeditationPool is in effect.
- Unlimited Combos. However, if you buy a combo using the original Combo rules, you can open it at a cost of 1m per charm, rather than 1 willpower.
- Terrestrials have no out-of-element surcharges on their charms.
- At Stamina 2, you get an additional -4 health level. At Stamina 3 you get an additional -2, at 4 a -1 and at 5 a -0. These naturally supplement your 'standard 7'. Each level of stamina above 5 gives you another -0 health level.
- The Dawn anima gives attackers an external penalty equal to the Dawn's Essence score. The Twilight Anima only automatically kicks in if they are doing tasks related to a Twilight Caste Ability. Glories of the Most High errata is in effect.
- In addition to standard chargen, all players get 50 xp to spend. Backgrounds cost 3xp per dot, and merits cost 3xp per point.
- Artifact crafting rolls have a duration of seven 8-hour days of work.
- For clarification, the Ride ability governs living mounts, while the Sail ability governs any kind of vehicle.
