Setting
- The year is 1234!
Nations
- There are twenty two nations split amongst nine island/continents.
Vogia
- The starting nation, metal is scarce due to the war with Vogia. Chocobos from Vogia go "WARK!"
Nercoria
- The capital of Vogia, located in the southeast part of the continent.
Sharne
- The mining town of Vogia, located in the middle of the Vogian mountain range.
- The metal supply from the mines here has been restored after the party cleansed the foreman of an evil spirit residing in him. The miners had been turned into the undead, but with the evil spirit destroyed, they were returned to normal and could resume their work.
- The mining town of Vogia, located in the middle of the Vogian mountain range.
Yalak
- The port town of Vogia, located along the eastern coast.
- The port is currently closed, as an Imperial Navy vessel was sunk into the opening to the harbor, blocking all entrance and egress with its wreckage. It was damaged in a battle with a flying monster which had been attacking the port town.
- The port town of Vogia, located along the eastern coast.
Braes
- A small village hidden in the forest in the north west.
Tower
- A mysterious ruined tower, with no obvious way to access it, located in the upper north east of the continent.
- The tower has been opened through the use of raw magic, and the party is currently inside.
- A mysterious ruined tower, with no obvious way to access it, located in the upper north east of the continent.
Stand of Trees
- Who knows what is up with this mysterious stand of trees? Is it a wooden stonehenge? It's the stand of trees that looks like a +, by the way.
Nolja
- Just over a bridge to the north of Vogia, at war with them. Chocobos from Nolja go "KWEH!"
Ayoro
- West of Nolja, lots of refugees make their way here. It is hard to get in unless you enter through one of their underground railroads.
Magitek Empire
- Located in the middle of everybody, this expansionist Empire is kept in check mostly because of the war with the Crescent Confederacy. Still, they have agents in every other nation.
Crescent Confederacy
- A crescent shaped continent east of the Magitek Empire, the confederacy is really a collection of five nations teaming up to keep the Magitek Empire in check.
Alonia
- A nation which used to be proud, they are now the chosen battleground of the Magitek Empire and the Crescent Confederacy; the native nation has fractured into ten small ones, who fight amongst each other and exploit the foreigners.
Holy Mandelia
- An island north of everybody else populated by Sidhe. They do not let visitors enter (unless they are Espers, who they believe to be divine), and are extremely religious. The only Sidhe found outside of Holy Mandelia are heretics of the Mandelian religion.
Southern Continent
- Home to elves and ancient ruins, the elves don't really like people moving in, and the ruins also actively defend themselves. The southern continent is a place of mystery, and it's also a good place to ship your criminals.
Floating Island
- The source of all dragoons, this island floats in a counterclockwise circle over all of the continents except for the centrally located Magitek Empire. I'll give you one guess as to how the dragoons get back up.
Races
- The races are Humans, Elves, Viera, Mithra, Androids, Sidhe, Half-Espers, and Espers.
Humans
- The most common race in the world. Nobody knows quite why, but it might be because some otherworldly beings favor them.
Elves
- They live mostly in the Southern Continent. They are fond of ritualized combat, duels and wargames, but are more hostile towards foreigners. Either the ruins are used to their presence or Elves are who made the ruins a long time ago, but the ruins' magical defenses do not activate when Elves are near. Of course, the Elves have no interest in what lies inside the ruins. Occasionally an Elf will leave the Southern Continent and explore the rest of the world.
Viera and Mithra
- These bunny and cat girls live in forests and jungles, respectively, though they tend to feel wanderlust and mingle with the other races. They never leave some of the forest behind, though.
Androids
- Also known as Magitek Golems, they are rare. They are created in the Magitek Empire and while they are allowed to choose how to live, most of them continue to work for the Empire. They are not officially allowed to leave the Empire, though some have managed to get out anyways.
Sidhe
- Fairies as presented at the top of the page, they resemble skinny elves with insect wings of their choice. They can Float in combat and Fly out of combat, and gaining the Float status allows them to Fly in combat. They are only rarely seen outside their island, and are regarded as a spectacle.
Half-Esper
- This is a template that can be applied to any other race except for Android. It replaces the existing race's ability with +2 mp per level, and tends to attract attention to yourself, for good and for bad. They are rare but tend to rise to prominent positions; people just seem to like the idea of someone who is half-magic.
Espers
- Beings who live in a world just slightly out of sync with everybody else, a world made of magic. They resemble humans, except with a glowing aura, and are made completely of magic instead of matter. They can be summoned into the world, in which case they are known as Aeons and take the form of massive creatures and monsters. They can only be summoned through the use of a magicite crystal which the Esper gives someone, though this magicite can be stolen or sold and used by other people. They also like to visit the world of matter as tourists. It is not unheard of for them to take a "normal" race as a lover. If killed in the material realm, they just get shunted back into their magical world, healthy and probably angry. Attacks by Esper made weapons can not be healed through magical means.
Technology
- Technology, for the most part, is the shizo medieval/renaissance hybrid native to jrpg games, with the occasional spot of more serious technology, diesel powered ugly things and almost-as-ugly magitek items.
- Vehicles are what you would find historically, for the most part. There are chocobos in the western hemisphere and horses in the eastern, carts, wagons, buggies, and other animal pulled vehicles. On the water there are canoes, kayaks, sailing ships, etc. Occasionally even pirates.
- The Magitek Empire has managed to invent diesel powered transport "animals," which look like a cross between a chocobo, a horse, and a factory. They also have diesel powered ironclad ships, though they are not nearly as fast as the sailing vessels and so still use those as well. On the magitek side of things, they only have magitek airships, three of them.
- Tools and such, for the most part, are of the medieval/renaissance variety, though the occasional magitek tool exists. These need magic to be supplied to them, and can behave erratically.
Magic
- Magic will go here
Food
Recurring NPCs
Lor the Human Ranger
- (Formerly played by shinichineko)
- What are the intentions of this mysterious member of the Magitek Empire Expeditionary Gendarmerie?
Cid the Cid
- An engineer with the Magitek Empire Navy. Will he help the party or oppose them? And will he ever achieve his dream of making an airship?
Unrevealed Cloaked Person
- Who is the cloaked person with such a glint in their eye? You don't know, you haven't met them yet!
Sylph
- The Aeon of an Esper Phobe once befriended, she loves nature and trees and abhors vacuums and loggers.
Houserules
Dragoon Jump
- A Dragoon's jump deals double damage, because really, wasting a turn for a normal attack with no chance for a critical hit? Lame.
Limit Breaks
- There are two methods with which one could perform a limit break. The first is to roll a critical when you're at 25% health, and the second is to expend destiny. However, the amount of destiny required has been changed. It now takes 3 destiny to perform a limit break at full health, 2 destiny at 50%, and 1 destiny below 25%.
Summons
- You can now summon Aeons at a tier you want now, instead of one Aeon being locked to a tier. Damage (and other related things) gets raised or lowered a step by each tier up or down from the base tier, and spells can only be cast if they are of the tier summoned or lower- no upper tier Fire spell on a tier one summon! Similarly, Aeons gain related spells if the tier they are summoned at is higher than their base tier.
- The Destiny cost for summoning an Aeon is a base of one, plus one for each tier of the summon. A level one summon costs two destiny, a level five costs six.
