Custom hearthstones for the Acts of Villainy campaign. Post your own creations here.

Template

Name: (Name)
Aspect: (Infernal, Malfean, Ebon Dragon, Vitrol, etc.)
Rating: (●-●●●●●)
Description: (The hearthstone's physical description goes here)
Powers: (Remember, the capabilities of the hearthstone should be directly correlated to it's aspect. Don't just copy an existing hearthstone but with infernal flavor, although using an existing hearthstone as a reference for how powerful a stone should be given it's rating is probably a good idea.)
Author: (Tag with your sn so I know who to give credit)
Notes: (Explain your thinking/defend your idea here. I'll also put my approval or any comments here as well)

One Dot

Name: Viridian Gemstone
Aspect: Vitriol
Rating:
Description: An emerald-tinted gem, roughly cut into shape by inexperienced hands.
Powers: When set on a weapon socket, this stone makes the weapon glow with a faint green aura of corrosive infernal power. Attacks with the weapon deal an additional +1L damage, and its Parry DV increases by 1.
Author: Luna
Notes: Balanced against the Jewel of the Flying Heart.

Two Dot

Three Dot

Name: Four Daughters Stone
Aspect: (Adorjan)
Rating: (●●● (maybe ●●●●))
Description: Brilliant emerald ovoid. (There are four Hearthstones like this, each emulating one daughter of the Yozi Adorjan: Kalmanka, the Arrow Wind; Kamilla, the Wind of Promise; Pellegrina, the Grinding Wind; and Vitaris, the Brilliant Wind.)
Effect:

Kalmanka: The Arrow Wind brings harm wherever she passes. The bearer increases the damage they do with any attack by 3; this effect does not work on
essence ping or overpower damage.
Kamilla: The Wind of Promise answer those in need. While dashing, add 3 to the speed of your dash while moving towards the target of an intimacy or a fellow Infernal who has taken damage in the last scene. Pellegrina: The Grinding Wind lives to destroy stone and dirt, eroding the world around it. As a miscellaneous action, the bearer can destroy an area of stone or dirt (Essence x 3) square yards in total, grinding it away in an instant. If used to make a pitfall from under a target, they must succeed at a (Dex + Ath) roll, difficulty 2, to move out of the way before it erodes their footing. Vitaris: The Brilliant Wind loves to bring her light to all, shining brighter than the suns in Creation and Malfeas. As a miscellaneous action, the bearer may cause a brilliant flash of light around them, blinding those around him. Everyone who can see the flash must succeed at a (Wits + Alertness) roll, difficulty 3, to block their eyes during the flash. Those who fail the roll are blinded for one action and lose one dot of Perception for the scene. If this effect brings them to Perception 0, they recieve Blindness as a Crippling effect. Proper eyewear can provide a stunt bonus to blocking the flash.

Notes: I dunno lol

Name: Jewel of the Elusive
Aspect: Adorjan
Rating: ●●●
Description: An elongated diamond prism, grey mists caught within it
Powers: The Silent Wind does not rest. She cannot be slowed. She cannot be seen. She cannot be escaped. Those who try are exemplars of futility. If Adorjan wishes your end, it is done - any claims to the contrary are mere wishful thinking.

While maintaining a charm with the Velocity keyword, the bearer of this hearthstone gains a number of benefits:

  • The bearer cannot be physically slowed or restrained: nets, ropes, and the ilk are simply ignored much as the wind would pass them by. This does nothing to prevent confinement or natural obstacles.
  • The bearer becomes difficult to strike at speed, leaving those who would assault him behind. This effectively increases all DVs by one.
  • As the wind itself cannot be perceived, the bearer defies the senses. All Perception rolls to notice him are reduced by one. Access to essence sight negates this benefit - the contrails of essence following the bearer are unmistakable.

Author: Ashel
Notes: Loldice. Maybe a bit high for 3, but requiring Velocity helps balance it.

Name: Jewel of the Defiant
Aspect: Adorjan
Rating: ●●●
Description: An elongated diamond prism, furious swirls of crimson light caught within
Powers: The Silent Wind does not abide complacency. She cannot be stopped. She cannot be reasoned with. She cannot be bought. Those who try are brought down, victims of their own pride. Where Adorjan finds flaws, they are exploited - the more tragic the end, the better.

The bearer may add one die to any hostile actions against a target who has previously:

  • Attempted to compel her with unnatural mental influences
  • Attempted to compel her with wealth
  • Treated her with an arrogant/prideful manner
  • Subjected one of her positive Intimacies to any of the above behaviors

These modifiers stack for each occurrence up to a maximum increase of +3.
Author: Ashel
Notes: Not sure where it lands for the rating. Could use additional conditions, maybe?

Name: Jewel of the Contradictive
Aspect: Adorjan
Rating: ●●●
Description: An elongated diamond prism, a swirl of endlessly changing colors reflected within
Powers: The Silent Wind does not make sense. She cannot be understood. She cannot be predicted. She cannot be controlled. Those who try suffer, and in the suffering are enlightened. What Adorjan wishes to do, she does - orders and suggestions merely incite her wrath.

The bearer wraps himself in the unpredictable nature of the Silent Wind, allowing him to automatically discern any attempts to read his motivation or Intimacies. If the bearer has not spoken in the presence of the observer, he is utterly immune to the attempt. If he has, he may increase the difficulty at a cost of 2 motes for each additional success required. He may alternately (or additionally, for the truly paranoid) spend 6 motes to reverse the nature of his Intimacies to an observer: positives appear negative and vice versa. This is considered an unnatural mental influence and can be resisted as such.
Author: Ashel
Notes: I am awful at socialan, so this probably sucks too. Costs are almost definitely off.

Name: Hellforge Ember Gemstone
Aspect: Vitriol
Rating: ●●●
Description: A cracked green-colored stone with a molten lava core flowing inside.
Powers: This gemstone gives the user +3 dice to rolls involving her Craft (Vitriol) ability or the creation of hellforged wonders.
Author: Luna
Notes: More random hearthstones~

Four Dot

Name: Attentive God-King Emerald
Aspect: Cecelyne/Cult
Rating: ●●●●
Description: A green-tinted gemstone, smoothed perfectly spherical by the sands of Cecelyne, which always seems to show an adoring face in its murky center
Powers: By focusing on the face of anyone who has prayed to them within the past 24 hours, the bearer of this Hearthstone can instantly step through Cecelyne to their side. Note that this only allows transportation within the same 'realm' (Someone in Malfeas cannot go to Creation this way, for example), with a range of (Cult x 4) miles. Using this ability in combat requires concentration, requiring the user to roll (Wits + Awareness + Cult) at at difficulty of (6-Cult Rating). In addition, add 2 to the number of motes gained per hour from each dot of Cult.
Manse: This hearthstone doesn't come with a manse itself, but forms near the worshiped entity. In order to form it, worshippers equal to Cult 4 must gather in a specific pattern across Creation, which forms a prayer to the Endless Desert in Old Realm. The next time the worshiped being sleeps, they will not gain any extra motes from their Cult, but this stone will be at their side.
Author: LinaInverse
Notes: Unsure about the difficulty - too low? Too high? Was originally going to simply increase things having to do with Cult, but 4-dot Hearthstones almost always open entirely new abilities to the character (Gem of Wise Discernment insta-pierces illusions, Gem of Masks allows shapeshifting, etcetera).

Name: Blood-stained Wind Gemstone
Aspect: Adorjani
Rating: ●●●●
Description: A transparent sphere, with thin red strains of impurities. When the owner runs, they appear to move slightly.
Powers: The stone grants a +3 bonus to all close combat rolls (as defined by the sidebar on the Adorjan charm pages) and reduces the DV penalty of attacking by one, to -0.
Author: Luna
Notes: Looks balanced against SLDS and the Powerbow stone. Reducing DV penalties is much more powerful than granting DV bonuses, but then again, a +1 DV bonus can be granted by a 1-dot hearthstone...

Five Dot

Name: All-Encompassing Cadence Crystal
Aspect: Pyrian
Rating: ●●●●●
Description: A perfect sphere full of flames, resembling the Principle of Hierarchy.
Powers: This stone brings order to the chaos of battle. Any action that would directly harm the owner has its Speed set to 6. The attacker may ignore this effect by spending 1 Willpower for each attack.
Author: Luna
Notes: Suggestions are welcome here.

Name: Invulnerable God-King Emerald
Aspect: Malfean
Rating: ●●●●●
Description: A miniature green sun contained in a perfectly polished emerald.
Powers: This hearthstone can temporarily store mortal wounds its owner would take. Whenever she would take lethal damage on her Incapacited level, the wound goes to the hearthstone's own health pool instead. The hearthstones has two -1 levels, two -2 levels and one -4 level, and the owner suffers the hearthstone's wound penalty in addition to her own. Transferring any number of these wounds back is a miscellaneous action.
Author: Luna
Notes: I have no idea of how good or bad this one is.
