Noobs (n00bs, nubs, or newbs) are typically players who are brand-spanking, brain-rapingly new to a game. The most commonly seen noob is the new player starting a game that has already been released for a year

Noobs tend to be adorable for the first five minutes, inciting remarks such as "Aww, the little guy doesn't know how to throw grenades" and "SHUT THE FUCK UP NOOB."

After the first five minutes, the Noob's constant questions and complaints about the game start causing veteran players to start bitching about the complainer. Then it cascades down to other people bitching about the bitching about the complainer. So on and so forth.

However, this style of Noob activity is typically only seen in games of the First Person Shooter type. In MMORPG's, RPG's, TTRPG's, and TTWG's, Noobs are guided and coached along so they actually learn the damn game in an efficient amount of time.
