Mages exist, they're all a bunch of assholes, and they're summoning history's most (in)famous heroes as avatars to kill each other for a piece of wish granting swag called the holy grail. The heroes all have summoning costs and stats ("[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eauCP8mGGH8 E] [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-bNCV9BJYyg Rank] [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=msjqtOOLIyQ Luck]"), the main characters act like a bunch of sociopathic [[player character]]s, and by the end of it everybody who used to be friends hates each other.

| Mentioning the series on /[[tg]]/ is a great way to generate apocalyptic nerd [[rage]]. Some hate the liberal artistic license taken with the historical figures (Gilgamesh wore solid gold plate armor right?). Others despise the [http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=FATE endless waves of quest threads]. But mostly people hate the intensely creepy fetish overtones from the earlier installments. Basically if Fate/Zero was [[Mage: The Awakening]]: The Anime, then its predecessor Fate/Stay Night was [[Maid RPG]] run by [[that guy]].
