Buraq

The Buraq is a white equine animal from Islamic tradition which is said to have carried the prophet Muhammad from Mecca to Jerusalem and then up through the seven layers of heaven and back in a single night. Originally described as a white mule or donkey, later depictions (possibly inspired by the Lamassu) gave it a human head, wings, and a peacock-like tail.

Dungeons & Dragons

Buraqs appear in the Al-Qadim Monstrous Compendium as flying horses with the face of an old man, native to the Upper Planes. They cannot be tamed, but choose to become mounts for people of good character. They can cast time stop on anyone riding them, to make a trip seem instantaneous.
