Rogue Trooper is a British science fiction comic from the multiverse of 2000AD, the same magazine best known on /tg/ as the birthplace of Judge Dredd. It is set on the human colony world of Nu-Earth; once a lush and verdant paradise, it has been ravaged by decades of war in which two opposing sides, the Southern Cross Confederacy ("Southers") and the Nordland Republic ("Norts"), have indiscriminately utilized atomic, biological and chemical weapons, transforming the paradise into a toxic hell. With the environment so heavily contaminated that ordinary humans require full-body life-support suits to survive, both sides have turned to genetically engineering expendable soldier-races to continue the battle. The Southers in particular have created the Genetic Infantrymen; blue-skinned clone-soldiers who are immune to all but the worst nastiness that Nu-Earth can throw at them, and whose minds download into a bio-chip upon death, allowing them to survive death until they are uploaded into a new body.

The original comic revolves around "Rogue", a Genetic Infantryman who is the sole survivor of the Quartz Zone Massacre - the annihilation of the first actively deployed GI regiment due to the actions of a Souther general turned traitor. With only the biochips of his three comrades Bagman, Gunnar and Helm for support, Rogue abandons the war effort on a personal mission to track down the traitor general behind the Quartz Zone Massacre and get revenge, fighting his way past both his Nort enemies and even fellow Southers, due to being considered a deserter by his own high command. It proved popular enough to get spin-off series, notably Venus Bluegenes, The 86ers, Hunted, and Jaeger.

A Rogue Trooper splatbook for the Judge Dredd & The Worlds of 2000AD roleplaying game allows players to run games set on Nu-Earth during the Genetic Infantry era. Aside from being able to play human and robot characters using the core rules for the system, the splatbook offers rules for playing Genetic Infantrymen, "Gene Dolls" (the female counterparts to the G.Is, originally intended as assassins and stealth operatives before being reassigned as non-coms due to sexists in Military Command), Strigoi (vampire-like mutants genegineered by the Norts as super soldiers), Blue Mooners (blue-skinned dwarf-like mutants, prototypes of the G.Is, subsequently used as cheap labor), Semi-Mooners (Blue Mooner/human crossbreeds), and Sims (savage gene-spliced man/ape hybrids used as expendable shock troops by their Nort creators due to their violent, dim-witted natures).
