The Northern Alliance is a nation far to the north of Mantica in Kings of War. It currently does not have an army list associated with it, but is set to get one-fourth quarter 2016 alongside the revamped Twilight Kindred army and Ophidia in a campaign supplement. They've got a full-fledged army now(mostly) and they are [Awesome]! They are considered mysterious and isolationist even by elvish standards.

Background

Far to the northwest of Mantica lies an island known as the Bitter Lands. North and west of this are the Great Ocean, although it is largely frozen on the surface to the north. This land is covered in snow for six months a year while experiencing freezing rain the other six. It is connected to Mantica proper by a single large bridge known as Tyris' Gate, named for the leader of this icy nation.

An outcast elvish king named Tyris Valellion was forced to flee Elvenholme two thousand years ago. He and his vassals fled to the Bitter Lands, conquering the sparse human and yeti tribes who lived there. Rather than destroy them, however, he integrated their tribes into his own forces, creating a new kingdom to call his own. This kingdom would remain out of world affairs for the next two thousand years, avoiding the God War and the Winter War entirely.

Since the upheaval caused by the demise of Winter a seemingly new breed of elf has been seen into the north. Now known as Ice Kindred by their fellow elves, the elvish members of the Northern Alliance generally refuse to associate with the other kindred, although rumors of interactions with the Twilight Kindred persist. What is known of these elves is that they practice a form of ice magic and are more hostile to foreign elves than to the non-humans of the Bitter Lands.

Likewise little is known of the human and yeti inhabitants of the Bitter Lands. They too are hostile to foreign forces, although much of their experience with them is likely isolated to forces such as the Varangur and Sea Kindred. It is reported in Walldeep that all the forces of the Bitter Lands seem to be building up for an as yet unknown military action, but whom exactly they would move against is still a mystery.
