Meros was a Craftworld inhabited by the ancient Eldar. Its denizens were unusual among their kin for choosing their leaders from among those on the Path of the Warrior, not the Path of the Seer. This preference led to the development of the Path of Command - the way of the Autarch - on Meros. During the Second Vetrovnak Incursion, the Craftworld was invaded by Vetrovnak and corrupted by a terrible nanomachine plague.

Location

Although the labyrinths of the Webway do not precisely correspond to distances in Realspace, Craftworld Meros maintains a long, eccentric orbit around the Galactic Core. It is sometimes believed that this location was chosen to keep watch on the ancient threat of the Necrons, though the Eldar of Meros were every bit as enigmatic as their kin elsewhere. Following the Doom of Meros, the Craftworld still maintains its old course, occasionally threatening inhabited worlds with invasion by gruesome Greywalkers.

Culture

Meros was home to warriors, but it was not an unusually militant Craftworld. The Eldar who gathered there believed in the defence of their kin and were generous in giving their support to their endangered kin elsewhere. Moreover, they welcomed the warriors of other Craftworlds to train in their Shrines and enjoy the camaraderie of the Path of the Warrior. However, they were suspicious of those trapped on the Path of the Seer and were prone to questioning or rejecting the plans of Farseers. The Councils of Meros were dominated by Exarchs and eventually the Autarchs, and although these fierce souls longed for battle they were also conscious of the cost of seeking out new wars.

Warfare

The heart of Meros' warrior host are their Aspect Warriors, with relatively few Guardians called to supplement them. The Craftworld's military leaders are especially careful with the lives of their troops, often relying on misdirection rather than direct confrontation. Meros was the birthplace of the Endless Fangs Aspect Warriors and their Phoenix Lord Eleathiae.
