For what it brings, footslogging [[Orks]] can kiss their asses goodbye, as AP6 means it's just enough to ignore their armor, and it ignores cover. A good strategy is that this thing runs in support of long range tank busting and finishing off dismounted infantry. Another thing to consider is the Shred special rule. It rerolls failed wounds. This is powerful not only against Orks and [[Tyranids]], but MEQs will have to roll real well to not lose half their squad to one barrage of this tank. Even if it quickly decreases in effectiveness against higher armor saves, it has a 5/9 chance of rolling a direct hit which, combined with Barrage, makes it brutally effective at sniping special weapons since you can without much luck score several hits on the targeted model. Because it's so cheap, never forget to give it camo-netting and the enclosed crew compartment (removes Open topped) or the EMPERAH WILL SMITE YOU DOWN!!!

At 15 points for the camo nets and 15 points for the closed crew compartment, you're halfway to ''another Wyvern'' or just saved yourself some points to buy something else. Especially considering that a moderately size building or hill can completely obscure the Wyvern and it has barrage (and can thus safely return fire from beyond retaliation), the points spent on making the Wyvern cost almost 100 points can usually be better spent on: another Wyvern, a Tank Commander for a Leman Russ, upgrades for a Veteran Squad, upgrades for a Leman Russ, an ADL/upgrades for your ADL, etc.

As a note on the ADL: If you were running them in a battery of three, you can now almost afford a fully-equipped Aegis Defense Line with the saved points, which, if used to hide the Wyverns, will grant them and much more of your army a 4+ instead of the 6+ the Camo Nets alone were giving you, and will give you a quad-gun to pepper the skies with since you have Wyverns instead of Hydras. However, the Wyvern is subject to the law of diminishing returns rather harshly, since the 3rd will have a hard time finding targets to destroy by turn 2, and probably won't recoup it's points cost.

The Wyvern Suppression Tank is the latest addition to the Imperial Guard (Or Astra Militarum) and their long line up of vehicles. Its battlefield role is to chew up enemy forces with the help of its Stormshard Mortars and provide suppression fire for the advance of the Guardsmen, hence why it's called a suppression tank. Unlike most IG artillery, the Wyvern is designed for close-quarters warfare rather than bombardment from afar.

On the Tabletop

This thing is, ultimately, the most cost effective infantry shredder in the game. It's dirt cheap and it comes fully buffed with four S4 Barrage small blasts that ignore cover and reroll hits/wounds. Consider using this when you have a hole to plug in your army list and can't fit a Leman Russ variant in it.

For what it brings, footslogging Orks can kiss their asses goodbye, as AP6 means it's just enough to ignore their armor, and it ignores cover. A good strategy is that this thing runs in support of long range tank busting and finishing off dismounted infantry. Another thing to consider is the Shred special rule. It rerolls failed wounds.
