The Thallaxii are heavily augmented cyborg shock-troops from the Ordo Reductor, the branch of the Mechanicum who specialise in Siege Actions.
The Thallax are best described as mini Dreadnoughts, they have a persons head and spinal cord removed and implanted into the Thallax body (like the villan from Robocop 2). This leaves the Thallax a cold, emotionless and calculating killing machine, albeit one that retains a degree of independent thought unlike a Servitor or Cybernetica Robot.
The Thallax are the first full AdMech release since Rogue Trader, as part of the Horus Heresy line. It is unknown whether they're still used by the AdMech in the 41st Millenium, of if the Thallax were lost after the Heresy.
