Quori

The Quori planning their world domination.

Quori are a race of fiends native to the Eberron setting of Dungeons & Dragons; residents of Dal Quor, the Plane of Dreams in the Orrery, they are living nightmares, embodiments of the various fears and phobias that haunt the collective subconsciousness of all mortals.

They have basically conquered the continent of Sarlona, the birthplace of humanity, through a centuries-long manipulation of its population into the acceptance of psionics to create a psy-based religion called the Path of Inspiration; they hope to use this to prevent a fundamental shift in the nature of Dal Quor which they believe will transform the Quori into a completely new kind of dream spirit, the notion of which terrifies them.

There is a faction of Quori who believe that Dal Quor's transformation should be embraced, and who have rejected evil. These quori created the Path of Light religion, and sought refuge from their enemies in mainstream quori society by fusing with human psionicists, creating the kalashtar race.

Quori lore and stats are scattered across multiple sourcebooks, but the following breeds were established in 3rd edition.

Tsucora

Weakest and most common of the quori, the tsucora shares a fairly common body-type, consisting of a grotesque mixture of a humanoid upper torso and a serpentine tail where its legs should be. The tsucora has no head, just a mass of different eyes set into the shapeless hump at the top of its chest, and sports both a pair of primary arms, which end in mighty insectile pincers, and three pairs of smaller, spindlier, more human-like arms below that.

This was the first breed of quori introduced, debuting in the 3e Eberron Campaign Setting.

Personality-wise, they tend to be cruel and calculating; they are generic fearmongers, feeding on any nightmare they can consume, although many tsucoras tend to establish a personal motif.

Tsoreva

The primary warriors of the quori, tsorevas, also known as Mind Blades, look almost identical to tsucoras at a casual glance; a closer look will reveal their lack of extra arms, the replacing of the tsucora's crushing pincers with blades of psionic energy, and the replacing of a serpentine tail with a body like a giant centipede. Bred for battle, they are brutish and bloodthirsty, serving as the enforcers of the quori's militaristic wishes.

Usvapna

Like tsucoras and tsorevas, Usvapnas, or Dream Masters, have a humanoid upper torso and a serpentine tail where their legs sould be. However, they have two pairs of mighty, muscular arms, all tipped with insectile pincers and lack both head and eyes; instead, a void of inky blackness sits where their head should be, projecting a palpable feeling of menace. They are the quori's inquisitors and assassins, spending most of their time scouring the minds of dreaming mortals in Sarlona to root out rebellion and discontent.

Du'ulora

Also known as Blackfuries, du'uloras are spirits of incarnate rage, especially endowed with the ability to drive mortals into fits of blind fury - ironically, they themselves have cool-headed, calculating personalities, despite being able to burn their foes with flames of manifest anger. They appear as maelstroms of eyes and wings suspended in a whirlwind of solid shadow-stuff.

Hashalaq

Also known as Dreamstealers, hashalaqs are the loremasters and judges of their kind, consisting of a levitating mass of hundreds of fleshy tentacles centered around a glowing blue mass of energy that serves as its sensory organs; they can twist these tendrils to form all manner of shapes, but gravitate towards the semblance of an ominous figure resembling a humanoid with a cowled robe, blue light shining from under its hood.

Kalaraq

The most powerful of all the quori, the kalaraqs are also known as Eyebinders, for they take the form of roughly humanoid forms comprised of utter darkness, surrounded by a halo of light and a whirling cloud of disembodied eyes.
