Psychic Sisters is a house rule I came up with after release of the 7th edition.
The reason for house rule is simple. The Sisters of Battle (aka Adepta Sororita, aka WITCH HUNTERS) are extremly bad at witch hunting. The main reason for that is that they don't generate Warp Charges to dispel anything or even use the Adamantine Will special rule to any effect.
The solution: Make them psychic!
But wait, I hear you say, that doesn't go with the fluff. The Sisters were never psychic and even despise Psyker! Yeah that is true, but we have the psychic phase now, so we might as well use these rules for the Acts of Faith. So whenever I talk about the 'Warp' think about 'Faith', whenever you hear 'psychic' think of 'faithful'. Got it? Ok, here we go!
Undying Faith
This is the psychic discipline of the Sisters. These are the only psi powers they can and will learn.
- Primaris: Light of the Emperor (Warp Charge 1) - Light of the Emperor is a blessing psychic power that targets the Psyker and her unit. Whilst this power is in effect, the Psyker and her unit gain the Preferred Enemy special rule.
- 1: The Passion (Warp Charge 1) - The Passion is a blessing psychic power that targets the Psyker and her unit. Whilst this power is in effect, the Psyker and her unit gain a +2 bonus to initiative and ignore the Unwieldy special rule on their weapons.
- 2: Hand of the Emperor (Warp Charge 1) - Hand of the Emperor is a blessing psychic power that targets the Psyker and her unit. Whilst this power is in effect, the Psyker and her unit gain the Hatred and Furious Charge special rules.
- 3: Spirit of the Martyr (Warp Charge 2) - Spirit of the Martyr is a blessing psychic power that targets the Psyker and her unit. Whilst this power is in effect, the Psyker and her unit gain the Feel No Pain (3+) special rule.
- 4: Holy Trinity (Warp Charge 1) - Holy Trinity is a blessing psychic power that targets the Psyker and her unit. Whilst this power is in effect, all the target's template weapons gain the Soul Blaze special rule, all the target's weapons with the have the Melta special rule gain the Ignores Cover special rule, and all bolt pistols, boltguns, storm bolters or heavy bolters gain the Rending special rule.
- 5: Endless Crusade (Warp Charge 1) - Endless Crusade is a blessing psychic power that targets the Psyker and her unit. Whilst this power is in effect, the Psyker and her unit gain the Fleet, Crusader and Move Through Cover special rules.
- 6: Miraculous Intervention (Warp Charge 3) - Miraculous Intervention is a conjuration with a range of 6". It brings back one of your units with the Martyrdom special rule that has already died. (Does not work on units that fled the battlefield, only ones that were completely removed as a casualty.)
Modifications
- Special Rules
- Martyrdom: As long as this model is dead, your army produces an additional Warp Charge during the Psychic phase.
- Act of Faith: This unit has the Brotherhood of Psykers special rule or the Psyker (Mastery Level 1) special rule, if it is an independent character. The unit also faces a Crisis of Faith instead of Perils of the Warp. They may only learn Undying Faith psi powers.
- Protector of the Faith: Uriah Jacobus is a mastery level 2 Psyker. He never faces the Perils of the Warp and may only learn Undying Faith psi powers.
- War Gear
- Laud Hailer: All friendly units within 12" of a model with a laud hailer re-roll failed Leadership tests when avoiding a Crisis of Faith or using a War Hymn.
- Simulacrum Imperialis: Your army produces an additional Warp Charge during the Psychic phase.
- Litanies of Faith: The bearer, the bearer’s unit and any Independent Character that has joined the bearer’s unit automatically pass any Leadership test required when attempting to use a War Hymn or to avoid a Crisis of Faith.
New Stuff
Crisis of Faith
When confronted with a Crisis of Faith, the unit must take a leadership test. When it fails, your psychic phase ends automatically.
New Special Rules
Sister Repentia units gain the following Special Rule:
- Quest to Repent: When generating psychic powers for this unit, roll a d3 instead of a d6.
Saint Celestine gains the following Special Rule:
- Living Saint: When generating psychic powers from the Undying Faith discipline, a Living Saint may choose her powers instead of rolling. In addition, after all units of your army know their psychic powers, target a unit with the Act of Faith special rule. The unit learns Miraculous Intervention in addition to any psychic powers they already know.
