Arcanes (renamed Mercanes in 3e) are a mostly forgotten race from D&D. They look like 12-foot tall blue-skinned humanoids with vertically stretched heads and long, slender, four-jointed fingers (though one sourcebook got this mixed up and depicted them with six normal fingers on each hand). They travel throughout the planes, making a living selling magic items.
