Luma are one of the five Birdfolk races in the Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition setting of Humblewood. One of the smaller birdfolk races, lumas resemble small songbirds - predominantly pigeons and doves, but also chickadees, wrens, sparrows, and cardinals. Tropical equivalents to luma may even resemble birds-of-paradise!
Regardless of their apperance, all lumas are a race of polar opposites; possessing a unique perception of the world, lumas seem perpetually disorganized and distracted, which has led to them being stereotyped as a race made up of either dimwitted and half-mad fools or eccentric but brilliant individuals. In fact, they actually have a unique perception of the world, allowing them to interpret information in an uncommon way and see possibilities that others cannot, but this is as likely to alienate them from others as it is to endear them. Many lumas are actually powerful sorcerers or even wizards, whilst others become radical but brilliant sages and scholars.
Most fledgling lumas approach social situations with hesitation, until a time when society inevitably labels them an outcast or a notable figure, and the individual naturally adapts to the role. This has led to the race's division into the subraces known as Sables (those who are pushed to the fringes) and Seras (those who are able to parley their skills and charisma into social standing). Whilst there is a tendency for sables to be darker-colored and seras to be brightly colored, this division is not biologically encoded, and in fact it's possible to encounter a family whose members include both subraces... which can make for curious and strained relationships amongst luma families and friends.
It should be no surprise that lumas prefer to keep to themselves and to the company of those who understand them; in birdfolk cities, lumas tend to form close-knight districts made up exclusively of their kind.

- Ability Score Increase: +1 Wisdom
- Center of Attention: You have Proficiency in the Performance skill.
- Songbird: You can cast Charm Person once per long rest, using Charisma as your spellcasting ability score and without the need for any somatic components.
