Daily Life With Monstergirl, also called "Monster Musume no Iru Nichijou", is an ecchi (playfully erotic, no actual smut) harem romantic-comedy manga themed around monstergirls. Created by Inui Takemaru (who goes by the pen name Okayado), the series began with his more hentai-flavored "My Life with Monstergirls" oneshot doujins and the similarly lewd "Monstergirl Report" series.
Origin of many /tg/ memes, the primary of which is images of Monstergirls with various facial expressions stating what kind of genitals their race has (funny in context).
My Life With Monstergirls
The original comics featured several identical young men (later revealed to be septuplets brother), each in a relationship with a type of Monstergirl; Centaur, Dullahan (a kind of Irish psychopomp that carries its own severed head), Slime, Lamia, Harpy, Arachne, Mermaid, and Minotaur). None of them men are named.
- Arachne lover must provide nutritional "protein" to replace what she loses webbing everything (giving an excuse for obtaining said "protein" beyond her lover's limits) as well as dealing with her extremely long, sharp claws and the effects they have during passionate lovemaking.
- Centaur lover must deal with the tsun demeanor of her outside of estrus, then her extreme lust during.
- Dullahan came to her lover while he was sick to fortell his death by throwing a basin of blood on him, although she began living with him and became attached until she wound up protecting him from the reaper. Then living with the mysteries of her strange biology with the detachable and independent head (mostly regarding sex).
- Harpy lover teaches her to fly using lift created by riding on his shoulders on a bike (with sex as a reward) so she can one day carry him despite being a smaller race of Harpy. Later, she requires his aid when laying eggs. Which they then ate, because they were unfertilized (her comparison to swallowing only unnerved him further).
- Lamia lover deals with waking her up in the morning by raising her body heat (with sex), as well as how uncomfortable he is having sex with her while she was hibernating (something she encouraged regardless until he bought a very expensive heater) as well as how difficult she is to please during her extremely long love-making.
- Mermaid lover must deal with the differences between their biology, from having to alternate time with her uncomfortable in the sun and making love while he wears a diving helmet, as well as her slimey skin (this comic proves the brothers are different people prior to the author confirming it when their lovemaking is overheard by Lamia and Lamia-lover).
- Minotaur lover deals with having to milk Minotaur, as her breasts are too large to do it herself. Their financial situation improves after the Minotaur race go on the news with an ad campaign about the positive benefits of drinking Minotaur milk.
- Slime lover has to drive several miles to fill up cans from a well to nourish Slime in a bathtub, causing her to turn from a shriveled child-like form back to a healthy and voluptuous one. Her desire to drain more "liquid" from him and her clinginess is worries him considering how she could dissolve him. They also enjoy more exotic kinds of sex, including "make an orifice".
Monstergirl Report
After the immense popularity of the previous comics, the creator went on to make a sequel series called Monstergirl Report which focuses on a single character, known as Mr. Smith, and his adventures through the Monstergirl world (the difference and location relative to Earth never being explained as apparently humans are aware these races existed to an extent and some like Harpy and Lamia which have no males can only reproduce with human males, although only very recently have the two worlds begun to organize diplomatic relations) while sex with every kind of Monstergirl FOR SCIENCE!
- With the Centaur, he propositioned one with a secret offer for sex and after she went into estrus he found himself tied up and drug through the forest until they found a secluded spot where nobody would ever find out what she was about to do. His willingness and skill with pleasing (as Centaur men are selfish lovers, and no Centauress would think a human would be willing to mate with their horse-like genitals) impressed her.
- Despite humans of the time believing Lamia killed their lovers, he still traveled to their lands (with them apparently living in yurts) and found any Lamia is quite willing to make love with any human if they offer. He impressed them with his amazing 24+ hour lovemaking until the Snek was exhausted.
- To mate with Harpies Smith waited in the open until one picked him up to bring back to her roost in a mountain cave, with her claiming she was going to feed him to her chicks (this is the only time Harpies have been hinted to eat humans in the series, and Smith was only shocked that she petite-looking Harpy was an adult). She however had forgotten that she...hadn't reproduced yet, and offered to have sex with him instead. Once again the Harpy ate her unfertilized egg.
- Wanting to study Monstergirl symbiosis, he headed deep into the jungle where he drawn in by the scent of an Alraune (plant woman) and paralized by her Papillion (butterfly woman) friend. Alaune prepared Smith for sex while Papillion drank nectar from her beasts until the two took turns drinking "nectar" from him (including Papillion's tube-tongue as a catheter). After sex the two get into a slight argument, as the young Papillion caterpillar attempted to eat the leaves of the Alraune without knowing it was a person and when they were older the carnivorous stage of the Alraune tried to eat the caterpillar Papillion.
- At the end of his journey, Mr. Smith had sexed each type of known Monstergirl. Dealing with a mild depression he fed Slimes, small garden pests in the Monster world, until they unexpectedly merged into the very first Slimegirl (meaning Report takes place before My Life canonically). He found that despite seemingly breeding through small Slimes merging, she still had sapience (and enjoyed having sex). Shaken from his doldrums, he dubbed her his assistant and once again set out in search of new Monstergirl races.
Everyday Life With Monstergirls
After the immense popularity of his other work, Takemaru managed to pitch a full ongoing comic based on the concept to the Tokuma Shoten publishing company. It has recently been adapted into an anime series following the comics.
The basic plot is simple: a Japanese everyman male protagonist that cooks and cleans (who is the cousin of the seven twins from the original series) who is never named (each girl comes up with a different name to call him, although most characters use "Darling" either as a sign of affection or sarcasm) lives in a world where various Monster races have revealed themselves living right alongside humans. Now, there is an exchange program going to help both species better adjust to each other. Initially our hero is playing host to one Monstergirl in his house while his parents are away; Miia, a playful and flirtatious young Lamia who is very interested in him - completely ignoring that sexual relationships between humans and Monsters are, initially, completely forbidden as they could cause a possible international incident (later on its shown that most couples completely ignored this fact) and the both of them would get into a lot of legal shit if he gave into her advances. Thanks to the Monster relations program case manager Ms. Smith (relative although not specified how of the researcher Mr. Smith from Report) being a lazy asshole (she blames it often on the fact she's under-budgeted to do her job properly), he keeps picking up more Monstergirls to live in his house which continually gets remodeled to make them comfortable, and accidentally encourages their romantic interest simply by virtue of being...well, virtuous and caring.
Currently, aside from Miia , the harem-members are Papi the Harpy, Centorea the Centaur, Suu the Slime, Mero the Mermaid, Rachnea the Arachne, and Lala the Dullahan (who is only amused by how often the women of the household put his life in danger rather than romantically interested in him) in addition to a few supporting cast members such as Ms. Smith's team of Monster spec ops agents called the "Monster Ops: Neutralization" or "MON" (as humans and Monsters are forbidden from harming each other, requiring both types of agents on hand at all times) consisting of a Zombie shock trooper named Zombina who is sewn together and comes apart from time to time, an Ogre woman named Tionishia as the muscle with a large appetite, a Cyclops (a rarity among the Monster world even, causing her to be shy and hide her eye with large hats and glasses when not constantly applying eyedrops) sniper named Manako, and a Shapeshifter named Doppel as an infiltrator. Additional cast include a plant woman, a Kobold athlete in charge of a Monster and human gym named Polt, a Dragon woman, an ice spirit, Sheep and a Minotaur, a fox spirit that can transform, an unidentified lizard woman and another Ogre, an Octopus woman, and two Fishmen.
As the comic progresses, more and more humans are shown in relationships with Monstergirls (as of this point, exclusively female Monster/male human).
The lore of the series is greatly expanded in the show as well as through supplemental additions. In general, the rule is presented that the larger a race the larger the breasts the females have. Miia was only sent by her clan to find a human male to bring back to mate with the entire group in the traditional Snek orgy, ensuring another generation although her falling in emotional love with Darling due to having to spend time with him to maintain the facade. As a carnivore she has a reduced capacity for taste making her incapable of cooking for other races although she herself is a connoisseur of protein dishes (not like in the other comics however) like eggs and meats. Harpies have almost three-second memories (this is played literal several times with Papi forgetting her current task and situation after walking three steps but retaining it while flying instead, although usually Papi is only presented as air-headed without a strict rule on her memory limit) and cannot recall other people's name for very long although they are aware of who it belongs to when it is spoken. Papi's mother is slightly better than her, given that she remembered she sent Papi a photograph of her husband for Papi remember her father's face, although the reason she needed it back in the first place is because when he is away she can't remember what he looks like either (she also has difficulty speaking Japanese meaning Harpies may have their own language). Centaur are proud warrior knights with a strict code of conduct, carrying their traditions into the modern day and tend to wear armor unnecessarily and carry medieval weapons. They are entirely vegetarian and have a broad and complex palate making them food snobs (although Darling's cooking exceeds Centorea's expectations every time). Arachne have multiple children at one time, and the two small legs beginning where their fleshy torso meets carapace are used to hold prey while they eat them although when tucked in can appear to be normal human legs if in shadow. Arachne still tend to eat live prey, eviscerating them with their long and extremely sharp fingers and eating them raw although Rachnea herself in the comic never exhibits any of these traits and eats normal food with the rest of the cast. Arachne in civilized situations cover their fingers with special gloves to touch others safely. Like ordinary spiders, Arachne have lung structures on their legs and cannot be submerged in water for very long and thus avoid it and are intoxicated by coffee in the same way alcohol affects humans. Minotaur women lactate without needing to be pregnant and have difficulty with hand expression techniques of relieving themselves of it. Sheep people grow fleece. Fox people can transform. Onryo freeze the ground around them and cannot tolerate high temperatures, although they can bathe in cold water without turning it to ice and using special protection can safely enter hotter areas. They are generally stoic, and rarely feel any form of emotion unless its strong. Slimes are little known, and do not have any form of government organization making Suu effectively considered a pet legally. They can absorb almost anything, even toxins, and can learn about the biology of other races to know what substances (like poison plants) would harm them. They are constantly in search of water which makes them much larger, and in need will suck it out of (or, if friendly, only off of) living beings. Salt harms them and saltwater could kill them if it comes in contact with them (although they absorb small amounts safely). Certain minerals and toxins alter their mental capacities; some poisonous plants and medicinal bathhouse water make Suu as intelligent as any other character and somewhat sarcastic for a short while. Slimes can read thoughts by extending a tentacle to the head of another being, broadcasting their thoughts in their voice or reading the mind of an unconscious sick person to figure out how to help them in particular. Slimes can transform into others, with Suu even splitting her body in two (one taking on the form of Darling and remaining with the girls, the other with Darling taking on the form of the one trying to take care of him while he was sick but quarantined to prevent cross-species disease spread) and is able to mimic contact between the two between separate floors of the house without being in any kind of physical contact indicating a form of non-physical communication between her selves.
Going from that setup, the series follows the genre blueprint of silly and sexy adventures mixed with character interactions as the girls compete for the protagonists' part and/or deal with the struggles of everyday life in a world that wasn't quite built for them.
Since this is a Japanese creation, although monster males exist, the ones that show up tend to be hideous fucks in contrast to their sexy females. Centaurs in particular have it bad, since generations of crude eugenics breeding for nothing but strength have turned them all into crude-looking ogres that cause the Centaur women to lust over the petite and (more) affectionate human men. They've begun resorting to adapting the racehorse metholody of "mare teasing" (in this case, using a pretty-looking, sweet-natured human guy to get the Centaur mare horny, then the stallion pounces on her and rapes her while she's ready) to breed. Orcs have been shown to be pig-like, and a small terrorist group of Orc nerds carrying AK-47's invade a pornographic store to demand more porn of Orc men with human women be made.
