/a/ is the Anime and Manga board of 4chan. They (and lots of works related to them) are mentioned on /tg/'s wiki because Japanese culture has traditional games, too, and many authors and animators are fans of them. Some western works are also making their way into anime, like the Cthulhu Mythos-inspired ("-inspired" used very loosely) "Haiyore! Nyarko-San".
Trivia
- The most accepted demonym for /a/ denizens is "/a/non" if you're being kind, or "f/a/ggot" if you are not.
- The average /a/ thread has a lifespan of three hours before dropping off page 15.
- The Big Three anime/manga franchises (Bleach, Naruto, and One Piece) are treated mostly with disdain and disgust by anons on /a/, due to hivemind and hipster tendencies. Please do not make a thread on /a/ to discuss them outside of days when new chapters are released.
- /a/ was the first board to be created after /b/, due to the sheer outpouring of /a/nime-related posts in its earliest days.
- Subsequently, /jp/ was created from /a/ to contain the shitstorm of Touhou posting that threatened to overwhelm the board.
- /m/ was created from /a/ so that those weird /m/echa fans would actually have a place to discuss their fandom without it instantly being pushed to page 10.
- /c/ was created to handle character image dumps that moot hates, and keep /a/ focused on actually discussing /a/nime and manga.
- /w/ was the first wallpaper board to be made, for similar reasons.
