A brand new race for Age of Sigmar, they are squats aether-powered flying pirate dwarfs. All their units use jumpsuits and power armour and they bring pistols and automatic firearms and airships to pillage and plunder.

Their society is highly hierarchical(Nope, the recent White Dwarf article for April 2017 claims them as a Meritocracy, pg.42, see "The Captains of Industry" and the following subtitle.). At the bottom are the arkanaut companies, civilians who operate the vessels and decks. Thes guys are given scuba-diving suits with a few pieces of armor and rebreathers just to not die. Fighting with pistols and axes, they are given a few toys though.

Interesting Facts

  • The Kharadron Overlords alphabet is a variant of the original ancient Dwarf Alphabet that was inspired by Rick Priestly after his 2001 dismissal from Games Workshop after claiming to be able to communicate with the dwarves from the fictional universe of Warhammer.
  • Originally Games Workshop intended two separate dwarf releases of "Slayer Sky Pirates" and "Steam Cog Subterraneans", the two ideas were merged together to create the current range. As well as being able to combine with 40k squats!
  • There may be a future release of Chaos Rubic Skylords who are alleged to be composed of steam/dust locked inside iron bodies by Tzeentch.
