Main Quests[edit]
Tachyon's Lair[edit]
Someone or something named Tachyon is said to have placed the Awakened Ones in their microcosms. If that's the case, he must be stopped or he may simply do it again, or worse. The question is, who is Tachyon and why did he do it? And furthermore, when? Tachyon is apparently not well-known across Arlumont, it is not even known if it is a man, creature, organization, or even a concept - so the only way to do figure out what Tachyon is and why might be to scour its domain for clues. The only problem is it is tightly sealed, and the Awakened Ones' only clues are cryptic riddles and engravings in front of abruptly blocked corridors.
GOAL: Discover the truth about Tachyon.
Find a way to enter Tachyon's Lair.- Explore Tachyon's Lair.
Note: The party has illustrations depicting the engravings and translations of the Draconic script. They can be consulted at any time.
The Thri-Kreen Redemption[edit]
The creature responsible for the awakening and freedom of the Awakened Ones is a Thri-Kreen named Chich'kka, who mans the team's vessel and assists them in any way he can. His request in return is that the Awakened Ones help him acquire rare reagents for a ritual, which is meant to open a gateway to the Plane where his people came from so they can finally go home, after centuries of entrapment in Arlumont. To do this, Chich'kka must consult his ancestors to learn which object is required next.
GOAL: Find all of Chich'kka's reagents.
Acquire hair from the mane of a unicorn.- Chich'kka must consult his ancestors to discover the next reagent.
The Imperial Psions[edit]
An Elan Kineticist by the name of "Qobash" attacked the party, and proved a deadly opponent. He knew who the Awakened Ones were, and wanted to kill them, stating he was an "Imperial Psion" but implying he was not loyal to the Empire. Finally, before killing himself, he warned the party that he was only the first of more to come.
GOAL: Discover who the Imperial Psions are, and stop them.
Side Quests[edit]
The Rogue Unicorn[edit]
The Awakened Ones met Goshiman elves, one of which identified himself as Caim. The elves are disturbed by the madness that befell a unicorn of their forest named Bellepheron. Bellepheron was driven mad by the infringement of Imperials upon his forest and by the torture of lizardfolk in the bordermarshes of Goshima. Now, the rogue unicorn has gone mad, wandering the marshes and attacking anyone that it sees. The elves want Bellepheron to find peace, whether or not it is in death, but for the Awakened Ones to fulfill this request, they must first pass through the elven ruins, now overrun with gnolls.
GOAL: End Bellepheron's rampage.
Gain entry to the Bordermarshes.Defeat Bellepheron.- CLEARED! Bellepheron was driven mad by the torment of lizardmen swampfolk who were torturing the unicorn at the behest of their dark idol, an aberration that seeks to rule the swamps. In his dying moments he thanked the heroes for bringing it much awaited peace. Caim, as a thank-you, protected your vessel from the Imperial Psion and had his tribe's clerics heal you and resurrect Lylia.
The Elven Ruins[edit]
On the subject of why the elves didn't fight to take their former homes back from the gnolls, Caim was strangely secretive. He even went so far to imply they weren't taken from the elves, but rather left behind by them.
Discover why the elves abandoned their home.- CLEARED! The elves had their home taken from them by a Drow named Svalu and the gargantuan broodmother Gota's brood of spiders. Caim was probably too ashamed to admit it and therefore chose to keep it a secret. With Svalu dead and Gota's brood eradicated, they may retake their home.
Oswald's Shimmering Ore[edit]
A blacksmith in the settlement at Pelicos asked Tharis if he could mine him some shimmering ore, promising that if he did he'd use it to upgrade Tharis' equipment.
Acquire a hunk of shimmering ore.Return the hunk of shimmering alunite to Oswald the Blacksmith in the Pelicos Settlement.
CLEARED! Now find another!
RELEASE THE KRAKEN[edit]
To avenge Bellepheron, the party has decided to venture into the lizardfolk's marsh home and eliminate the aberration that they worship.
Find the aberration.Abolish the cult.Defeat Wal Unqua, the Aberrant Marsh Hydra.- CLEARED! The party eliminated the aberration, and now the cult serves them instead. Not exactly what Bellepheron had in mind, but whatever works.
